Weekly reflection 5
1. WEEKLY REFLECTION 5 - FMP
Throughout the end of half term and the holiday week I worked primarily on my casting, Sound
tracking, and script writing. After a lengthy cast process with tens of applicants, I’ve managed to
secure a full cast of talented actors for my FMP. This will make the planning and schedules for the
project much easier. As I can base my filming days around their schedules and edit accordingly. The
bulk of my filming will have to be done in the start of each filming week. From Monday to Wednesday,
as this is the only time all of my actors are available. If we use those three days to film an episode and
the remaining two to edit them, as well as editing during the night when able, this will allow us to
produce one episode per week. Or at least, the equivalent of one episode, as they will not be shot
sequentially, but rather planned well in advance and written before filming starts, so we can film
scenes from any episode at any time. I solved my problem with audio for the original soundtrack.
After this week, in which me and my musician tested several different audio recorders and
determined the audio wouldn’t be easy to capture on those devices, he decided instead to record it
himself professionally in his own studio. This eliminates the need for us to record the OST with the
college equipment and frees up my time for other matter, so this was a good decision overall. I also
began my research on locations this week. Deciding to film in Hoggs pond, askham bog, lendal bridge
ouse river, York wall and Minster gardens for some of the exterior shots. This will help give the film a
clear identity. Establishing the city setting and taking full advantage of the aesthetically pleasing
features of York.
The next step is to draw out a filming schedule for my actors, as well as book out my equipment and
decide which scenes would be most efficient to film on which days. I’ll also need to do some location
scouting for interior scenes and exterior establishing shots.
I was also able to complete three of the five scripts needed and have sent them to the actors to be
learned and approved. Hopefully the next two will be done within the next few days, so we can all
begin to plan when we are free and when we will film.
Going forward, I’m going to make some actor profiles, ensure my problem solving is 100% finished,
and ensure my research is thorough before moving on to planning.
