Peer pressure can influence teens to make both positive and negative choices. For drugs, some teens feel pressured by friends to try substances to hang out or because their friends recommend it. Sexual peer pressure can come from feeling uncomfortable being inexperienced or partners pressuring each other against their will. In all cases, peers can encourage risky behaviors by portraying them as normal or fun.
