The potential to transform lives –from academic to welfare and emotional learning,
makes me feel that my life is not only good, but amazing and fulfilling. There is always
satisfaction in teaching for I see it as a calling. There is the inner voice keeping me happy every
time I see a student learn and apply his/her learning. A major component of my professional
practices is letting students Learn, Live, Laugh and Love. As a Physics teacher, these 4’L (Learn,
Live, Laugh and Love) are important elements of how I deliver my physics instruction.
Learn. I believe that a “deep” discussion of content/subject matter is important because
“everyone can teach but few teach in-depth content”. The depth of the discussion entails
teachers’ concrete and broad understanding of the subject matter. Reading the topic from
different sources is helpful to see different ways on how to look and discuss the topic. I like
triggering student’s curiosity to develop critical thinking, creativity and innovativeness through
questioning and problem solving without ignoring the development of desirable attitude expected
to them by society. Also, chronological sequence of instruction in science classroom is not just
needed but a must because all teachers can stand in front and teach but not all arrange learning
endeavor in a way that an average learner can easily grasp the subject matter. Really, teaching
requires passion and love for students. I believe that pursuing higher education for an advance
understanding of content and pedagogy is inevitable.
Live. I believe that for a student to learn well, they must be involved in the learning and
meaning-making process. I expose them to a learning activity to experience the content
especially in physics. In this way, I let them practice and demonstrate skills that they need in real
life which include both Science process skills and 21st century skills. I believe that students
remember about 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, but 90% of what they do
students are doing more than simply listening promote skills-development and higher-order
thinking. In this manner, students can work together in breakout groups and develop the abilities
they’ll need to collaborate. It also pulls student out of their comfort zone by creating an
environment where risk-taking is present. As they get more comfortable sharing their thoughts,
defending their conclusions and building on each other’s ideas, they’ll gain confidence and self-
possession. Allowing students to “live” boils down in developing ability to solve complex
problems and actively engaging students in processing ideas and forging deeper understanding.
Laugh. I believe that learning should be Fun. Learning should appeal to the emotion of the
students. I believe that our thoughts and emotions can strongly affect motivation. Motivation is a
drive or desire that compels us to do something. Emotions are the feelings that color our lives
and allow us to experience all of the joys and sorrows of life in the same manner that it can drive
learning and lasting memory. Hence, allowing the students to have fun has a substantial
influence on their cognitive processes, including perception, attention, learning, memory,
reasoning, and problem solving. I always connect the topic to an experience common to a student
where everyone can relate and put humor on it to let them feel the fun in learning aside from the
interactive activities. Letting my students laugh is a proven to promote a god learning
environment on my class.
Love. For me, “love” makes the learning environment desirable for all kinds of learning. Also, it
makes lifelong learners for they are doing learning with a purpose. Love for their classmates,
love for respecting ideas not similar with them, love for task that promote learning, love for
helping others in constructing explanation, love for searching and seeking answers to questions-

all of these are spirit of learning-filled environment. This will not be present when I as their
teacher will not give myself to what makes my students happy, know why they are sad, what
they want and what they are into. I make sure that I learn what and who they are to be their
worthwhile accompaniments inside the classrooms.
To make students Learn, Live, Laugh and Love is my way of doing my mission and profession.
