In our modern day environment we consider facts like environmental
friendliness, cost saving and community development and upliftment, in
order to contribute to overall sustainability. The Hydraform Building System
lends itself toward this in the following ways:
Echo Sustainable Building
Solutions

Substantial Cost savings in block making and construction. Freely
available subsoil is used as the raw material. Hydraform blocks do
not require costly burning. Transport costs are low since block
production takes place on site.
Benefits for the user of The Hydraform Building System
A major feature of the Hydraform blocks is that it is produced under
high compression from subsoil, without the need for wood, gas or
coal to burn bricks. Hydraform Interlocking Dry-Stacked Block work
has less than one third the embodied energy and resultant CO2
content than fired clay face or clay stock brick work. This results in
the blocks having a lower embodied energy content than clay fired
bricks, resulting in a lower CO2 footprint making the Hydraform
blocks more desirable for Green Projects.
Environmental Friendliness
Local communities can benefit from building with the Hydraform
Machine Range. They become active participants in the building
process and a sense of awareness and pride is created within the
community. This also provides an opportunity for additional income
and affords unskilled men and women a chance to empower
themselves and learn new skills.

Why Training?
Sustainable. Building. Solutions © Copyright
The user will produce an end product which will be
implemented in the local community.
Implementation is in the building and construction sector - one
must adhere to specific regulations and levels of standard.
Key words and phrases:
Material Knowledge, Machine Operation and
Maintenance, Product Quality, Implementation, Building
Quality and Skills, Sustainability and Production
Management.
The Hydraform Machines, product and implementation is
unique.
In order to achieve a quality product and construction result
which meets the required regulations and standards a person
needs to be trained.
By training a person one achieve the desirable levels of quality
and workmanship.
The fully trained person implementing the system then knows
the theory and practices driving the system and an effective result
is obtained.
Hydraform thus offers training worldwide and at the Training
Academy based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
How Do We Train?
Sustainable. Building. Solutions © Copyright
Training is conducted in theoretical and practical sessions. It is important to do assessment in order to
ascertain that the specific outcomes as set out in “Training Objectives & Outcomes” in the curriculum
have been achieved.
Assessment is done in two aspects of the training namely theoretical and practical, keeping in mind that
these two aspects are not separate from each other but interweaved throughout the training course.
Assessment Strategies:
At the end of the course the candidate is presented wit an “Academy Test”. The test
consist of 57 questions covering the full syllabus of the particular course. In order to
promote cognitive stimulation the questions are presented as a “Complete the
sentences” section as well as multiple choice section The test is stress-weighted in
terms of a time limit of 20 minutes in which the candidate needs to complete it.
After the test have been completed and marked the results are given to the candidates. A
minimum of 75% needs to be achieved in order to receive certification. The test is then
reviewed in detail and very question which had a wrong answer is handled in detail.
Reinforcement of the knowledge and skills is done in order to achieve the desired
outcome.
Theoretical Assessment:

Theoretical Assessment:
Each theoretical session of the training course is supported by a practical session.
During the practical sessions the candidates engages in hands-on implementation of
the theory. This involves every aspect of the Hydraform System from material selection
to the final constructed dwelling.
The lecturer demonstrates the procedure or process in terms of theory which have been
imparted and the candidates then apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills.
The measures of success applied is directly determined by the product. If the
application of the knowledge and skill was incorrect, it will result in the product being
of insufficient quality or standard.
The lecturer observes the candidates while applying the knowledge and/or skill.
Intervention occurs when necessary, applying corrective measures should the desirable
result and outcome not have been achieved. Reinforcement of knowledge and skill is
done in order to achieve the desired outcome.
