It was also during the 1970s that Komatsu
decided to commit to what it saw

hydraulic excavators.

Last year, Komatsu Australia celebrated
fifty years in Australia. Starting from the
position of a small dozer supplier
in the 1960s, Komatsu first came
to the attention of the Australian
earthmoving community as they
looked across the Pacific to see
how the USA was managing their
massive post-war road
building program.
Throughout the 1990s, Komatsu outsold every other brand of
excavator and in Australia alone sold over 2,000 excavators to
construction contractors, forestry and mining companies, plant
hire firms and quarries.
