This is my 8th year teaching gifted children, 3rd year at Miamisburg. My schools this year are Bear, Jane Chance, and Medlar View. This is my 5th year teaching math to gifted children. I have taught math to gifted students in grades 1-7. I am the mother of two high-ability preschoolers…I live giftedness  About Me
What Research Says Mathematically gifted students will - come into the classroom already knowing up to 70% of the curriculum to be taught that year What this means for us ,[object Object]
I Can reports are generated to communicate what your child already knows and has learned.
We will not be covering curriculum in the same order or at the same pace as the regular classroom.,[object Object]
Fewer practice problems, less repetition
More problem solving and thinking activities
Students have the opportunity to show concept mastery to reduce the number of practice problems required,[object Object]
Homework- worth 1 point each, students can earn 1 additional extra credit point for missing one or fewer questions OAA problem of the week- worth 1-4 points depending on the type of question Problem of the Week- worth 1 point, students can earn 1 additional extra credit point for getting the correct answer and explaining it Classwork- varies Tests- usually worth 30-60 points Grades
