About Renee
Craig,
Seriously, about Renee... she really helped me out this morning when I had a panic about a file that holds
the bulk of our information at the Center for Academic Services. Turns out it was in another folder on the
share drive, but when I couldn't find it, I knew I was in trouble. lt must've even been me who caused the
problem, though I don't know how it happened because I was working in Groupwise. I had worked in this
file and was saving an e-mail to a different file when I noticed that the TREMENDOUSLY IMPORTANT fite
wasn't in the usual place on the share drive.
The Help Desk did an excellent job of prioritizing my service call. (Thank goodness!!)
And Renee made her first stop in my office to get our entire department functioning again. Her calmness
really helped get me settled back in to the day.
Thank you so much for having such a great staff and encouraging them to give such good customer
service!

Renee,
Just wanted to let you know how much we appreciated your sorting out the English Department's
student-worker computer (in GLC 107W) on November 12. lt's treating us right again-and what a relief
that is.
Thanks much for the great help even as you added more work into your already busy day

AD Migrations for Friday SnnO
CSS,
Just as you did a splendid job of dividing up the AD Migrations for today, please do so before end of day today for
tomonor¡/s migrations. Please put the assignments on the spreadsheet in the appropriate columns. Jordan will be here
tomonow so remember to keep his name in the mix.
Just as yesterday, I'm out of here at 4pm today.
For having just thrown this faculty migration together at the last minute, I think you all are doing an excellent job of just
picking up with it and making it roll. Job well done!

Éxcellent Staff...
Jesse T. Erickson; Renee M. Giefer
Craig & Yosef,
In the past week I had been having issues with my computer in terms of shutting down-getting various "not
responding" messages, etc., and then when all was said and done I still needed to do a forced shutdown.
The purpose of this email is not to address the problem, however, but rather to tell you how impressed I was
with the excellent seruice I received by your staff-Renee Giefer and Jesse Erickson. Their work demonstrated a
high level of expertÍse and problem-solving ability. In addition, they were very professional in their delivery of
this excellent seruice, which was done in a very timely manner. This type of work pedormance is not new for
Renee or Jesse--I have experienced it whenever they have responded to a tech issue in our office (MMERC) in
the past.
Hamline is very foftunate to have them on staff and I wanted to express how much I appreciate them and their
work.
Sincerely,
Thank you for all that your depaftment does in the technical support it provides.

Jordan / Renee,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I tested things out this a.m., did some tweaking on the setup of the
printer in terms of the info that needs to print each time there is a check out and all is working beautifully. We

Hi Rhonda,
I worked with Follett technical support and was able to get the newer driver for your TSP613 printer. We
installed it successfully so it should be working. However it might require some configuration or settings of some
sort. Could you please test it out when you have time and just let me or Renee know the outcome? I'd be happy
to stop by if it needs some additional configuration.
Thanks,
Jordan

Retirement
Hi Renee,
I wanted to let you know I am leaving Hamline and am taking the retirement package. Actually, my last day is
August 13 but am home untilthen, cleaning up electronic files, etc.
I enjoyed working with you so much and wanted you to know you bring joy and laughter wherever you go. I
could always count on a "pick me up" when I saw you. Hamline could use more of you around. You are good
for Hamline and I only hope they appreciate you and your skills.
Take care of yourself and thanks for sharing those beautiful wedding pictures with me. Thanks for your
friendship.

As usual, thanks to all of you for making this change so easy and doing it in your usual friendly fashion'
I have a bias about the applause that you guys received at the holiday party. It goes beyond merely being well
known and is aimed directly at you (and I speak here about allof you) as professionals and colleagues who know
how to help and who want to help, even when we resist help--even when the help at times is so trivial. You treat
all problems the same: they are important. It is nice to be treated so well and I'm always amazed at how good
you are at this.
Now, whether I migrated along with it remains to be seen but I also know that iflwhen I have a problem you will
help.
So, thanks to all of you.

Renee, Charlie, and Josh, I canï thank you enough for the outstanding services you performed yesterday here
in the back hallway of DredHSE.
First, I was sorry that I missed you, Renee, when you anived with the second monitor, but you clearly left the
job in very good, well-trained hands: Charlie Schroeder. What an asset HE is to lT! He explained what he was
doing as he did it so that even / understood what was going on. When he finished, I asked him to show me the
basics of managing the two monitors - he did that quickly, clearly, and so effectively that I was up and running
easily after he left.
I also asked if he had time to look at a problem with my laptop. He very pleasantly agreed - "Better than
wasting time going back and forth" - and when he hit a wall, he apologized and said heU let you know about it.
Ten minutes later you and Josh Zetler came through my offíce dood The two of you tried to fix my problem as
well as Vivian's acrcss the hall - you guys are really efficient and know how to make the most of your time.
Like Charlie, Josh also hit a wall with my laptop and said he needed to consult info back at the office. I will
follow up with him.
Renee, all three of you are funny, fiiendly, really focused, knowledgeable
- and it's clear that you really have
our best interests at heart. I especially appreciated your good work because I'm in the middle of a serious
course-scheduling time crunch - I'm trying to naildown the last 30 courses forthe SP 16 schedule by Monday,
and I need to coordinate four ir¡fo sources simultaneously. Since Charlie taught me how yesterday, I can
manage three sources on my dual screens - it sure beats running down the hall to print and then recnterfrom
paper. Thanks to you, our SP 16 schedule wil! prcbably NOT"go up in flames". And I slept well Iast night.
That's how important you are.
Renee, Josh, and Charlie - you're the best! And I promise to refill my candy jar with a sign that says "Property
of lT". Hope you have a great weekend.

Giefer Craig & Yosef, In the past week I had been having issues with my computer in terms of shutting down-getting various "not responding" messages, etc., and then when all was said and done I still needed to do a forced shutdown. The purpose of this email is not to address the problem, however, but rather to tell you how impressed I was with the excellent seruice I received by your staff-Renee Giefer and Jesse Erickson. Their work demonstrated a high level of expertÍse and problem-solving ability. In addition, they were very professional in their delivery of this excellent seruice, which was done in a very timely manner. This type of work pedormance is not new for Renee or Jesse--I have experienced it whenever they have responded to a tech issue in our office (MMERC) in the past. Hamline is very foftunate to have them on staff and I wanted to express how much I appreciate them and their work. Sincerely, Thank you for all that your depaftment does in the technical support it provides. However it might require some configuration or settings of some sort. Could you please test it out when you have time and just let me or Renee know the outcome? I'd be happy to stop by if it needs some additional configuration. Thanks, Jordan fi1e://C:TempUGgrpwise4C7788F5Domain1PO41001756836125315lGV/ 00001.HTM glT7l20t0

You treat all problems the same: they are important. It is nice to be treated so well and I'm always amazed at how good you are at this. Now, whether I migrated along with it remains to be seen but I also know that iflwhen I have a problem you will help. • 16. firæ,|2o15 Hamline University Mail - AWESOME SERVICE!!! E }IÅMLINE Giefer, Renee M. <rgiefer0l @hamline.edu> TIIÍIVENgITY AWESOME SERVICE!!! 2 messages Mayer, Garol <cmayer@hamline.edu> Fri, Oct 30, 2015 at 1:54 PM To: "Renee M. Giefel,' <rgieferOl@hamline.edu>, Josh Zeller <jzellerOl@hamline.edu>, Gharlie Schroeder <cschroeder0S@hamline.edu> Renee, Charlie, and Josh, I canï thank you enough for the outstanding services you performed yesterday here in the back hallway of DredHSE. First, I was sorry that I missed you, Renee, when you anived with the second monitor, but you clearly left the job in very good, well-trained hands: Charlie Schroeder. What an asset HE is to lT! He explained what he was doing as he did it so that even / understood what was going on. When he finished, I asked him to show me the basics of managing the two monitors - he did that quickly, clearly, and so effectively that I was up and running easily after he left. I also asked if he had time to look at a problem with my laptop. He very pleasantly agreed - "Better than wasting time going back and forth" - and when he hit a wall, he apologized and said heU let you know about it. Ten minutes later you and Josh Zetler came through my offíce dood The two of you tried to fix my problem as well as Vivian's acrcss the hall - you guys are really efficient and know how to make the most of your time. Like Charlie, Josh also hit a wall with my laptop and said he needed to consult info back at the office. I will follow up with him. Renee, all three of you are funny, fiiendly, really focused, knowledgeable - and it's clear that you really have our best interests at heart. I especially appreciated your good work because I'm in the middle of a serious course-scheduling time crunch - I'm trying to naildown the last 30 courses forthe SP 16 schedule by Monday, and I need to coordinate four ir¡fo sources simultaneously. Since Charlie taught me how yesterday, I can manage three sources on my dual screens - it sure beats running down the hall to print and then recnterfrom paper. Thanks to you, our SP 16 schedule wil! prcbably NOT"go up in flames". And I slept well Iast night. That's how important you are. Renee, Josh, and Charlie - you're the best! And I promise to refill my candy jar with a sign that says "Property of lT". Hope you have a great weekend. Garol Carol S.
