● Because of all the fjords and islands, we have the second largest coastline in
the world, only beaten by Canada.
● Our coastline is more than 103 000 km.
● That is more than 2,5 times around the equator.

● We are about 5 million inhabitants.

● We have 19 regions (fylker).
12. The Samii People:
● The Samii People is our native
people.
● They have their own language,
their own flag, their own national
day and their own national
costumes.
● Earlier they lived from fishing and
keeping reindeer, but today they
live mostly like the rest of the
Norwegians.

Yes, we do have polar bears, but they do not walk around in the streets, but live
on a group of islands called Svalbard..

Svalbard is a group of Islands located half
way beetween the mainland of Norway
and the North Pole.

● Svalbard has about 2500 inhabitants and has an arctic climate.
● Longyearbyen is the administrative centre.
● If you go outside the centre of Longyearbyen, you have to wear
a gun, or follow an armed guide.
● But the polar bears are mostly peaceful and harmless.
● A lot of tourists visit Svalbard, to explore the wild nature.

When you go to
this mountain,
you can sit on the
edge, and look
about 600 meters
down to the
Lysefjord.
Rogaland has a
lot of villages by
the sea
Kjerag. You can
stand on the
”Kjerag Bolt” and
look about 1000
meters down to the
fjord.

19. Oil Industry:
● The Oil Industry started in 1969,
when we found oil in the Northern
Sea.
● The Oil Industry are important for
us, and our economy, and is the
most important reason why we
are a rich country today.
● A lot of people in Norway work in
the Oil Industry, or have jobs that
are connected to it.
20. OUR CONSTITUTION DAY
17th of
May
Our constitution day is the 17 th. of May. It`s the children`s day. We
go on parade, the bands are playing, and the children get to attend
a lot of games and contents. They can eat as much ice cream as they
like

21. National day:
● On our national day, the royal family
are waving for hours, to greet the
Norwegian people from the castle
balcony.
24. Winter sports:
Norway is good in wintersports, like alpine skiing, cross country skiing, and
skating.
We are very proud of our athletes.
25. Marit Bjørgen:
This winter Marit Bjørgen became the most winning
olympier ever. She has won 15 olympic medals, the most
by any athlete (men and female) in winter olympics
history.
She is ranked first in the all-time Cross-Country World
Cup rankings with 114 individual victories.
26. Football.
We are unfortunately not that good in football, and
in fact, usually we have problems even qualifying
for the World Championship in football…😓
But we all remember the year in 1998, 20 years
ago when we won 2-1 over Brasil…
27. Norway Cup
But anyway, football is the biggest and most popular sport
in Norway, and maybe...sometime…. we will be great
again...
And we do have the biggest football cup for children and
young players in the world!
