PERSONAL OBJECTIVES
I am seeking part-time/ casual work within the fields of Visual Arts, Arts Education & Community Development to
support and inspire my Visual Arts professional development and artist practice. I have taken a year from
employment as an Arts Educator to focus on further building my artist skills and techniques. To structure this year I
have undertaken a Diploma of Visual Arts at Southbank TAFE and through this program I was awarded as a recipient
in their New York study tour program. The tour involved studying at the School of Visual Arts New York, undertaking
a drawing workshop and visiting the major art centres such as; The MET, MOMA, The Whitney, The Guggenheim and
Chelsea galleries. The atmosphere was electric and I came home very inspired and keen to further develop my arts
practice and I am currently applying to Brisbane Universities to join their Honours program for 2016. I plan to
continue postgrad study and apply for Masters of Visual Arts in 2017/18. I am developing a transdisciplinary arts
practice, which involves creating installations utilising art making techniques such as printmaking, artist books,
drawing, wire and leather weaving, painting and digital art. I am interested in developing further digital art skills in
video, sound and light work. I believe the Arts is a powerful tool for personal development and social change and I
am exploring avenues to combine my experience as an Art Educator and Community Development worker within my
art practice.
