SAMA PRINTERS (PVT.) LTD was established in May 2001 with the sole objective of creating a niche for
itself in the nascent printing industry of Nepal. Within a few months, it began printing two renowned
national daily newspapers: THE HIMALAYAN TIMES and ANNAPURNA POST, both of which went on to
redefine the printing space in the Himalayan country. It now prints several other newspapers including
three Nepali Dailies; Karobar, Aarthik Abhiyan & Sourya Dainik and English Weekly; The Reporter.
Since its inception SAMA has enjoyed unprecedented success in the print domain having established a
legacy of excellence, innovation and quality.
SAMA PRINTERS is fully supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and latest hi-tech machinery. It has
a team of 85 highly trained professionals who ensure quality printing and innovation.
The printing process at SAMA is carried out on high-speed web offset machines, using automated
imposition on computer and Computer to Plate (CTP) for making thermal plates, automated newsroom
dispatch facility and automated post press functions.
SAMA has added specialised book production machinery and equipment to its existing infrastructure. This
new facility gives enables it to produce 25,000 books a day

The Infrastructure
Pre-press
SAMA is equipped with a separate team to work on processing of the raw inputs before feeding to the
production. Pre-press works on procedures, that occur between the creation of a print layout and the final
printing. The pre-press procedure includes the manufacture of a printing plate, image carrier or form,
ready for mounting on a printing press, as well as the adjustment of images and texts or the creation of a
high-quality print file. The pre-press shop can handle various kinds of digital files supplied by the
customer, such as; Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe
Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Programs or ready PDF files.
CREO PREPS 5.1 (2 SETS)
An imposition programme which can impose thousands of pages in one hour. The Preps improves
productivity and reduces errors at the initial stage of page processing. You just have to create the format
and place it in the correct run order, and thereafter impose the same. This process saves a lot of time and
and costs owing to less manpower.
KODAK TRENDSETTER THERMAL CTP (3 SETS)
The KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS Platesetter brings quality, speed, and consistency of thermal
imaging to the printing industry. It has automatic process for loading and unloading plates as also a
standard file-format interface that connects easily to most print production systems. It is a fast, flexible
and optimized means for exposing thermal plates for printing.
The TRENDSETTER NEWS Platesetter is a key element to improving the Stability of printing business,
helping you achieve quality, efficiency, profitability, and environmental goals

At the Press, multiple printing machines offers our clients several more choices. Web and sheet-fed are
the two types of machines that we possess. The flexibility that they offer helps us to be cost effective and
print at high speed with efficient solutions to meet all your demands. We invest continuously in the latest
printing technology; hence the newest techniques and effects are successfully incorporated in all the work
done by us. The high speed and advanced equipment is adept at a fast turn around and consistent quality
control. Web Offset offers the best solutions for printing newspapers and uncoated paper textbooks. We
have different lines of Web Offset machines.

KOMORI LITHRON S540 SHEETFED OFFSET
The Lithrone S540 expresses which is a smart sequence of Komori Lithrone Sheet-fed Offset, intuitively
offers fully automatic control of processes from the end of production of one job to the start of final printing
on the next job. Non-stop ink removing, blanket washing, plate changing, pre-inking, high-speed startup
and Smart Feedback allows the operator to respond simply, quickly and with minimal paper waste to
requests after test printing for changes in densities. These developments transform the Lithrone into a
Press that meets the need for printing jobs such as short-run, short-turn around and on-press proofing.

Post-Press
SAMA is equipped with entire range of high end and high speed machines for book binding, with
productivity of 25,000 soft case books per day. To complement our printing capacity, we have efficient
machinery for cutting, folding, gathering, saddle and side binding.
PROGRAMMABLE CUTTING MACHINE
Wohlenberg 115 is the High-speed fully automatic programmable cutting machine with new touch control
wide-screen format. This is equipped with CIP function which generates cutting programmes including
graphical visualisation in a matter of seconds. The pre-press data can be recalled on the machine itself,
with a push of a button in a few seconds. The tolerance limit of cutting is 0.01 mm with minimal margin of
errors.

AUTOMATIC FOLDING MACHINE (DIPLOMA)
Welbound Diploma 4Z3X is a large format automatic folding machine that delivers quality with
productivity. A combination folding machine with four buckles and three knives enable various folding
formats. Capable of handling maximum sheet size is 28”x40”, and make four folds upto 32 pages with a
speed of 12000 per hour.
FLOWLINE CENTER GATHERING CUM STITCHING MACHINE
Flowline is an automatic center stitching machine with continuous forms feeding with automatic stitching
heads and inline trimming. There are total 7 inline feeders (6 Forms + 1 Cover) and 1 rejection unit to
avoid downtime in wastage. The production speed is 8000 books per hour.

Manual double head stitching machines as a backup solution.
GATHERING MACHINE (PICKWEL)
Pickwel is an automatic gathering system incorporating the rotary principle which ensures correct pick up
and handling of the most difficult signatures. The machine is equipped with latest fault detection system
for no signature and multiple signature detection. A rejection tray ensures elimination of faulty gathered
signatures without stopping the machine. There are total 16 feeding stations with inline automatic stitching
heads. This can gather 3500 books per hour with stitching.
PERFECT BINDING MACHINE (WB2000)
With 2000 cycles per hour WB 2000, the 6-clamp perfect binder is ideal for production jobs where quality
of the highest degree is desired. Important features include, strip milling system which eliminates dust,
three roller gluing system with head and tail cut-off, separate side gluing, online cover feeding and
creasing.

3-KNIFE TRIMMER (TRIDENT E-20)
Three knife trimmers are essential to produce quality books with perfectly square spine. It saves time in

UV COATING MACHINE.
This is an offline sheet fed UV & Aqueous coating machine is one such revolutionary product which can
perform full and spot (UV & Aqueous) coating on thin and thick papers at a speed of maximum 5000
sheets per hour.

THERMAL LAMINATION MACHINE.
Thermal laminating films are heat sensitive films having ability to make good bond with media in the
presence of heat and pressure.
The machine is with auto-cut sheet-to-sheet option, which saves a lot time in post production.

COLD LAMINATION CUM GUMMING MACHINE.
Cold Lamination is done using water based adhesive as a binder between subtract and film. This kind of
lamination doesn’t use heat to laminate sheets. This machine can perform backside full or strip gumming
for the poster and stickers.

DIGITAL NUMBERING MACHINE (VDP)
Variable Data Printing is a unique automatic numbering & coding machine through laser print heads. This
machine also has continuous forms feeding and auto delivery. It can handle various kinds of databases
for numbering and bar-coding. It also has an inbuilt feature for perforation, slitting and creasing for book
covers.
CREASING CUM PERFORATION MACHINE
Creasing options for center and side stitch covers and folders. This machine also has an inbuilt feature to
make four heads perforation.
Packaging
ONLINE MAILROOM EQUIPMENT
It’s an online solution for counting and packaging option. This contains overhead conveyor system,
strapping and sheet over-under layer before strapping. Online counting, jogging option, managed by
computer.
STRAPPING MACHINE (5 SETS)
Strapping is the bundling process of applying a strap to an item to combine, hold, reinforce, or fasten it.

Power Backup
KIRLOSKAR GENERATOR-500 KVA
SAMA is equipped with power backup solutions, in case of general power failure or any emergency. This
avoids any kind of downtime in production. This is the complete set of 24 Hours power backup to run
three phase high-end printing & finishing machines.
This is the second line of generator to run one or two machines and also a backup for 500 KVA generator.
This is the small generator to run smaller machines and fulfill the routine electricity requirements in case
of general power failure.
UPS-11 KVA (4 SETS)
Four units of UPS dedicated to provide the non-interrupted power supply for CTP machines, Image-setter
and other pre-press operations.
Security Features
ONLINE CAMERA VIGILANCE
All the rooms are equipped with CCTV cameras. Complete day-to-day operations and machinery are
under surveillance round the clock. Footage of day-to-day activities which are captured by CCTV cameras
are available for last one month.
Storage Capacity
SHOP FLOOR CAPACITY
A dedicated space allocated at the shop floor along with machinery to give continuous feeding of input
materials and store finished goods. The storage capacity is around 100 tonnes.
GODOWN CAPACITY
A separate godown is also available to store around 1200 tonnes of paper, other materials and finished
products for long periods. The godown is attached to the production floor which also saves time in
material movement. We also have a separate storage space allotted for the finished products.
