Rahul Gandhi addressed an election rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the BJP for hypocrisy on women's empowerment, noting that BJP cadres have assaulted women in Karnataka. He also questioned why Narendra Modi just now revealed that he was married, after hiding it for so many elections. Gandhi said the Congress believes in empowering all people, while the BJP tries to divide people and suppress dissent.

Rahul Gandhi: BJP thinks only Modi, not the people, knows everything
Doda: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a huge election rally at Doda in Jammu and Kashmir and took on BJP for
its double-speak on women empowerment. He also targeted BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister
Narendra Modi for his ‘late’ admission that he is married to Jashodaben, in the recent poll affidavit filed.
“Nowadays, I see BJP poster with the promise of women empowerment. They talk about women empowerment but its cadres
beat up women in Bangalore. Karnataka Chief Minister had told me that one of BJP’s former ministers was charged with assault
on women. BJP MLAs watch porn through mobiles at state Assembly. How the women of India could feel safe under BJP and
Modi's so-called Gujarat model when in Gujarat, policemen are sent behind a woman, her phone was tapped by policemen. For
the first time, only now, Modi admitted that he was married. Why did he hide it till now? Till date, he never had mentioned his
wife’s name in any affidavit. We don't know how many elections he has fought, for the first time he has written that he is
married. Still, BJP talks about women empowerment!” said Rahul Gandhi.
In another attack on Modi and BJP, the Congress leader lamented, “In Gujarat, hundreds of acres of lands were given to a
particular businessman at throw-away prices. BJP sidelined Advani and accepted Adani. It ousted Jaswant Singh from the party”.
“For me India is a bouquet which contains various flowers. I treat every flower equally. For Congress all Indians are equal. We
want to ensure that every citizen’s voice is heard in the system” reiterated Rahul Gandhi.
“We want to empower people more. That is why we talk about rights. But BJP makes people fight against another. They make
people fight to suppress their voices. They want no one to question their actions. Congress runs governments for common man,
the poor and downtrodden” explained the Congress Vice President.
Continuing his onslaught against BJP, Rahul Gandhi continued, “BJP leaders never try to understand the issues of the people.
They are egoistic. They do not have any faith in people. I and my party believe that people have the knowledge and that is why
we go to the people. We learn a lot from them. I believe politicians have to learn from the masses. They must go to them and
interact with the masses” and added, “I am not at all worried about win and loss. I have just one thing – the love and affection of
the people”.
2. “BJP wants to impose its ideology on others. They want Gujarat model to be replicated everywhere. It is not possible. Kashmir
needs Kashmir Model. The only thing we must do is to empower the people. That is what Congress has been trying to do” he
explained.
“We will win this time too. We will treat everyone equally and will take everyone together with us in our efforts for
development. Our focus is benefit of entire people. We want to work with love and affection and take forward our country
towards more progress”, Rahul Gandhi concluded.

This election is a battle of two ideologies, one is that of Congress and the other is of BJP. Congress believes that we must take all
people along with us for achieving growth. Our efforts are to empower the people – the poor, weak, women and downtrodden.
On the other side BJP is divisive. Its friends threaten people from UP and Bihar in Maharashtra. The Sikh farmers, who have been
working in Gujarat farms since 40 years, face eviction threat from the Modi government. BJP cadres beat up women in
Karnataka. They make Hindus fight with Muslims but talk about development!
Omar (Abdullah) just said that without peace development is not possible. BJP never understands the people’s sentiments. In,
2004 they came up with a slogan ‘India Shining’. In fact, they had not asked people about the realities. BJP just had interacted
with some business class and arrived in a conclusion that India was shining. For BJP, all is well if the business class is happy.
But we go to the people frequently. We had held interactions with various sections of the society, before drafting our manifesto.
People had expressed their happiness with our schemes of granting rights in jobs and food for the poor. But they told us about
their difficulties in availing hospital facilities. They told us that if somebody falls ill in a poor family, it is very difficult to avail
adequate healthcare facilities. We, therefore, decided to grant people a right to health in our manifesto. The Congress
governments in Rajasthan and Kerala have already launched it and now we want to implement it across the country.
Congress always talks about unity of the country and rights of the people. We are against all kinds of discriminations. We want
every citizen to have equal rights.
BJP too published its manifesto. What did it do? Just copied our Manifesto removed the ‘hand’ symbol and replaced it with BJP’s
‘lotus’. It also copied our proposal of right to health.
We have launched a new industrial corridors project– Delhi-Mumbai, Mumbai-Chennai, Delhi-Kolkata- will generate more jobs
for our youth. We will have all modern infrastructures in that corridor. Today China is the manufacturing capital of the world.
We want India to replace China in the future. We want to see ‘Made in India’ and not ‘Made in China’ label on all the watches,
cameras. Thousands of industries that are going to come up in these corridors will be the backbone of India. We also have
started building tunnels to connect Kashmir with this corridor. About 10 crore jobs will be generated once we complete this. It is
interesting that BJP too has included this corridor project in its manifesto, without realising that we already have started it.
3. Omar (Abdullah) has correctly said; BJP thinks people know nothing. It considers that only a single man knows everything. BJP
thinks only Modi knows everything and the rest of the people have no knowledge.
Nowadays, I see BJP poster with the promise of women empowerment.
We don't know how many elections he has fought, for the first time he has written that he is
married. Still, BJP talks about women empowerment!
In Gujarat, hundreds of acres of lands were given to a particular businessman at throw-away prices. BJP sidelined Advani and
accepted Adani. It ousted Jaswant Singh from the party.
In Jammu and Kashmir, we have initiated several measures for development. I frequently come here and talk to you often. You
had told me about your difficulties in securing jobs. We implemented MNREGA. You wanted to have interactions with
businessmen and so I had arranged a meeting between big industrialists and students in this state. Thousands of youth
benefitted through our programmes HIMAYAT and UDAAN and lakhs will be benefited in future. We conducted Panchayat
elections here and incorporated 73,74 amendments.
In Uttar Pradesh, we connected about ten lakh women with banks through Self Help Groups (SHG). I had taken Omar with me to
Amethi so that he can experience its success personally. Now, he is intended to follow the same in Kashmir. The Centre already
sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs 750 crore for this.
BJP just puts banners on women empowerment, but we (Congress) deliver.
Congress is committed to pass the women reservation bill. We want to improve connectivity in Kashmir more. A Rs 22000 cr
project for railways has already been launched. We also have started the Mughul road project and similar tunnel constructions.
We want to empower people more. That is why we talk about rights. But BJP makes people fight against another. They make
people fight to suppress their voices. They want no one to question their actions. Congress runs governments for common man,
the poor and downtrodden.
BJP leaders never try to understand the issues of the people. They are egoistic. They do not have any faith in people. I and my
party believe that people have the knowledge and that is why we go to the people. We learn a lot from them. I believe
politicians have to learn from the masses. They must go to them and interact with the masses.
I am not at all worried about win and loss. I have just one thing – the love and affection of the people.
4. I also belong to Kashmir but I am not able to realise your issues completely as I am not coming to you frequently. But I can
promise you one thing that I can give my maximum time for you. Your pain is mine too; your issues are my issues too.
In UP there are 80 seats. Bihar and Maharashtra also have larger number of seats; Kashmir does not have many. But for me India
is a bouquet which contains various flowers. I treat every flower equally. For Congress all Indians are equal. We want to ensure
that every citizen’s voice is heard in the system.
BJP wants to impose its ideology on others. They want Gujarat model to be replicated everywhere. It is not possible. Kashmir
needs Kashmir Model. The only thing we must do is to empower the people. That is what Congress has been trying to do.
We will win this time too. We will treat everyone equally and will take everyone together with us in our efforts for development.
Our focus is benefit of entire people. We want to work with love and affection and take forward our country towards more
progress.
Thank you.
Jai Hind.
