A Speechless Story Of A Traveler.
Chapter 1:
The night was cold. It was darker than any other nights. The wind blew stronger and stronger by
the hour. Some of the trees even submitted themselves to the wind. Leaves were left on the ground.
Patches of mud were formed without notice. No one wandered Klensburg. The lamps were not
working. Only a few twitched with heat and light. The homes lacked people to stay. Rats rushed
through the streets, striving for garbage to feast upon. Klensburg was abandoned. No one was here
but one person.
A traveler came from East, the city of revolution. Rose was a girl of fifteen. She was raised by
the royal family. She opposed her father who was against her travelling to the Darkness region.
She snapped back at her father with anger and rebelliously left his father's office, leaving the
father dazed. She packed equipment, gadgets and food, and left through the window in her room.
Rose's footsteps echoed throughout Klensburg. It was rumoured that Klensburg never
experienced day, but only night. The ground was not fertile enough to grow wheat and plants. The
Darkness region was dry. Clouds were scarce and rain came rarely. Even if water droplets appear
from the sky, it would only last a minute.
She walked, foot by foot, cautious to her surroundings. Owls hooted and crows flapped their
wings as Rose got closer to them. They shocked Rose once, but not twice.
She accidentally stepped on a puddle, but moved on without complaining. Rose was the
daughter of the mayor in the city. She was energetic, ambitious and outgoing. She wanted an
adventure she would never forget. After finding out about the Darkness region in her History class,
she talked to her friends about it, but she was ignored. Days went by with anxiety and curiosity
growing inside her. Everyone shunted her that day, but she had her maids to talk to. She was
oblivious to the maids pretending to care for her, though. For the past few months, she had been
searching for the Darkness region through her father's telescope, but no fruits bore. Every other
week, she asked her father if she could go there, but every time she asked, he refused. With every
week, she grew more courageous and rebellious with her father. The fateful day they had the
argument was the day she escaped. She was wearing a brown leather shirt with brown leather
pants. She wore leather boots to fit with her clothes. On her face was a mask worn over. It only
allowed her to see through her right eye. But she cared less about it than her journey to and in the
Darkness region.
She laid her hand on a wooden door and pushed it open. The door creaked and whined. She
sneaked her head into the door of the gap and jumped. She jerked back and the door broke down.
She stepped back and a beast was revealed. Concrete was flying all over the place. Dust scattered
and splinters lay on the ground. A head was revealed when the dust floated down to the ground.
The rest was slowly revealed. Its head had teeth sharper than any grinder in East. It had ears and a
nose as black as the night.
It growled at Rose's face.
Chapter 2:
Rose was catching her breath. She was in a room as big as a blimp that scouted the city for any
danger. At times, she missed East and its wonders of technology, but the time was not now.
Rose set her gadgets down. Her backpack consisted of a grappling hook and a blast gun that is
capable of shooting a spread of bullets. It needed energy in forms of solar, heat and wind, as
energy is used to transform into the bullets, or so she had learned from her teacher. She took out
an axe and wore a glove. The axe and the glove had a special connection. Rose had no idea how
they were made together. She sneaked into her father's weaponry and saw an axe mounted on a
pedestal along with a glove around the hilt. She was not aware of its history, as she was never
taught that specific weapon in school. She hesitated, but changed her mind to take it. It was a
month ago, but she remembered it like it was yesterday. The axe had a unique blade built into it. It
curved, then turned a sharp corner away from the hilt wrapped in a material that she never knew
about. The glove, on the other hand, had a button situated in the middle of the palm. When she
was trying out her weapon the next day in her room, she had trouble at first, but she trained each
day and got better at it. When the button was released, the axe would return to the glove like
magic. When pressed, the axe may go wherever the owner wants it to go.
Rose grabbed the axe and got ready, grabbing her grappling hook in her left hand and
positioning herself.
When she ran from the beast just now, which was fully in black fur, she noted the places she
will have to go to. Everyone accounted her a queer person, but they could not deny her analyzing
and problem-solving skills.
She definitely took her chances when she ran outside and met the beast face-to-face metres
away from each other. She did not look at the beast, but the perch she wanted to reach. She aimed
her grappling hook and pulled the trigger. The hook flew and grabbed onto the perch. She released
and held on, and, like the hook, flew and landed. Rose did not know that this perch was the edge
of a building.
The beast was already running when she was flying. The claw it swung missed her by inches,
and roared at her. Rose saw it hunch back.
She ran and heard a crash behind her as the beast landed on the building. She turned back, but
still running at the same direction, and threw her axe. She did not need to remember to press the
button. It was her habit now. The axe twirled like a bullet and smashed the beast's nose back. Rose
heard a crack and released her fingers. The axe flew back into the glove without mistakes. The
beast was stunned. She smiled, but kept on running.
Too happy that she did not realize she plunged into a hole.
Chapter 3:
Her right eye opened.
The area was dark, but somehow humid, according to Rose. She could already see a bit of this
place, but it was still unknown to her. She felt the ground and picked herself up, along with her
grappling hook. She tensed at the moment she remembered the beast, but relaxed a second later.
Her backside felt painful, but not to a point that she could not move. The ground was rocky, rough
and hard.
A cave was what she would have guessed, but she was not sure. She threw her axe like a
boomerang and it came back to her without knocking anything. She relied on her axe like it was
her companion. She grew more and more attached to the weapon as hours went by, training with
real effort.
She kept swinging her axe and catching it back as she walked. Once, she stepped on a jagged
stone and shrieked as the stone pained her foot. She kicked it sideways using the side of her boot.
It hopped away swiftly.
Her axe hit something. Something hard. She thought it was a dead end, when she felt the wall
and found a door knob. She was puzzled by it. The door knob was wet with the humidity in this
supposed cave. She turned it and pushed it open.
She heard a moan beyond the door. She could see a figure, but thatwas all. She stepped back, to
be safe. As she stepped backwards, the moan got louder until it was qualified as a shout.
Experimentally, she went forward. The shout turned into the same moan, softer and softer. The
figure, whom she determined was a male teenager, could see her from outside. She wondered how.
She changed her mind, risking her own safety for her curiosity. She stepped forward once again
and opened the door. The figure stood in front of her, inches apart. She was right about her
determination. He was about the same height as Rose and he did not look frail or weak at all. In
fact, he looked healthy. But she could not see his face.
Thatwas all she could identify when he grabbed her with open arms, catching her off guard. He
pulled her whole body to his and they went behind the door. He kicked the door shut.
Rose was outraged when he did that, when the black beast came crashing into the supposed
cave, which, revealed by the moonlight, was actually just a room with rocky surfaces. Rose's right
eye looked at the boy. His face looked so innocent and Rose felt both thankful and sorry for him.
He had a look that Rose found attractive, but she had no time to fall in love. The beast was
outside.
She got up immediately and pulled the boy up to his feet. Her right eye, which was adjusted to
the darkness now, saw a small trail ahead. She took the boy's hand and moved, with the boy
stumbling almost every step. The beast crashed through the wall and roared. It boomed throughout
the mysterious room as Rose got her axe ready. She lifted her axe, but the boy pushed her arm
down. She did not protest, though. The boy lifted his arm instead and let a light pulse from his
palm. Amysterious force pushed the beast back a few metres. It staggered backwards, then fell to
the ground.
Then there was a roar of pain as the jagged stone Rose stumbled upon earlier pierced through
the skin of the beast.
Rose smiled underneath her mask and began to trust this boy. They went around a corner and
hid in a small and perfect hiding spot. She asked for his name in East language. Surprisingly, he
understood.
His name was Kogh. He was from East as well, but he was made a clone for experiments. He
was required to take an extreme amount of pills unknown to him. Then, scientists would
experiment on his health, but mostly on his performance in fighting. The pills he took granted him
a certain power. It was a successful experiment. But that was just one they had done. They had a
lot more experiments in queue for him. Clones did not have emotions. But the power he obtained
also granted a conscious. Emotions. And most importantly, the will to be free.
Rose had heard of cloning, but that was just a rumour. She had not known that was true. Maybe
her father had been keeping some secrets from her. Or that he did not even know himself. She
asked more, like how he escaped and what his powers do. He smiled sadly and shook his head.
The memories hurt him, especially the moment he found out he was just going to be used as a
weapon. Rose nodded her head slowly and apologetically, understanding how he felt.
The time passed for a few hours. They started to sweat a few minutes later. They had not heard
the beast for quite some time.
Rose thought it was dead. But Kogh had a suspicion that the beast was still here, but injured.
Rose took out her blast gun and flicked the safety switch off. She was confident, but Kogh was
cautious.
Kogh was reluctant, but he nodded to Rose, and they started off.
Chapter 4:
The monster was out there, somewhere. Rose was practically running around in the maze of a
room, with zigzag paths and sharp turns. Kogh was trying to sense the beast as he walked through
a path. Finding it was tedious. The beast was suddenly silent this time, maybe because it was hurt,
but Rose was getting bored by the second. Kogh was still cautious and his eyes were wide open, to
the point of madness. His eyes were constantly moving left and right, even if he was looking at
walls of concrete.
Rose heard a pebble being kicked away. She quickly positioned her blast gun at the source of
the sound. Sweat trickled down her face as she prepared for the beast to jump out of the corner.
But it was just a rat that jumped out of the corner. Rose loosened her shoulder at that moment,
letting her blast gun hang loose from her fingers.
She heard another sound, but something different, like the ground being clawed onto. She
turned around and saw the beast already in the air, lunging at her. She grinned mischievously as
she took her blast gun up. She ran towards the beast, then lowered herself into a roll, moving
under the beast as it crashed onto the dirt. She got up as quick as possible and pulled her trigger.
The energy shots were fired and they traveled towards the beast. Its cranium was pierced, over and
over, from the spread of the energy shots. Kogh appeared behind the beast and sent an invisible
force. Something thin and long. Rose saw a hole appear on its abdomen as it fell to the ground,
yielding.
Rose smiled at Kogh and he returned it. The beast had tender meat in it. Plus, they could use the
fur for coats. She immediately took our her glove with the axe and kept away her blast gun. She
walked casually towards the beast and was ready to swing her axe. The beast opened its jaws and
ripped Rose's foot off. Then the beast fell and died, finally.
She shrieked as the blood spilled from her ankle and the boot, along with the foot, were eaten.
She dropped to the ground on her backside and threw her axe towards its face. Its sharp teeth were
broken into pieces enough to scratch its tongue until it bled.
Kogh ran over to help out, using the force to stop her leg from bleeding. He took off his T-shirt
and tore a part of it. He used it as a temporary bandage until he found a new one. The blood
slowly spread throughout the cloth, turning it blood red. Kogh took Rose out of the area and hid in
the same hiding spot. The shirt soaked too much blood that the path they went through had a trail
of red.
Without permission, Kogh went through her backpack and found a grappling hook. He nodded,
then carried her on his back. He went back to where he moaned and noticed the crashed wall. He
struggled, but managed until he saw a hole that allowed some light in. With one arm holding Rose
and the other holding the grappling hook, he fired, but the first attempt was a failure. He almost
had it by the third attempt. The fourth attempt was successful, the hook stabbing into the concrete
ceiling outside. He did not know how to make the rope retract, so he threw the gun of the
grappling hook into the hole and pushed himself forward with force and reached the hole. His
right hand grabbed into the edge. He pulled himself up, glad that the hole was big enough for both
of them.
With the remains of his shirt, he blanketed her with the shirt and laid on the concrete, sighing
with relief. Now, it is only a matter of time until he found something else to recover her foot.
Maybe with a mechanical foot. The Darkness region was never known for technology. It was a
region of death, darkness and corruption. The beast was one of the monsters of corruption, but he
realised that it was the simplest monster of all. There were more than monsters of corruption.
There were monsters of death and darkness. He shuddered at the thought and promised Rose out
loud, even though she fainted, that he would be strong enough to keep both of them alive,
provided Rose does the same. He laughed at the second part of the promise, even though it was
serious.
He stood guard and looked out for anything in the bright moonlight.
Chapter 5:
Kogh sat on the concrete edge of the roof. His legs were swaying around in a lazy movement. He
was swaying with his legs, but in different directions. The cool breeze touched his bare chest and
it felt soothing to him. Back then, when Kogh did not wield the mysterious power, he was
mindless and without any thoughts. He was like a baby, or even less intelligible. He was a clone,
after all. His memories could not go further into that detail of being created. Things he could
remember, like when he took his first experimental pill or withstanding a block of metal slamming
into him, were vague. But he knew that a sliver of power from the pills entered his brains and
activated it.
His back and head jerked up as he heard someone moan. It was Rose's voice. He turned his
head and went to her while inspecting her body. Rose still had her foot missing and most of the
blood dried up in the torn cloth. He saw Rose open her eyes, then closed. He quickly walked over
to her face and scrutinised it. Nothing was wrong. But she woke up too early to be able to recover
from the pain she had experienced. It was only a few minutes ago.
There was a sharp cry coming from one of the buildings. Kogh was not sure. But he was sure
that the sharpcry woke up Rose. She got up like lightning and realised her foot was torn off by the
black beast. Kogh looked at her foot and he blasted himself off the ceiling to another building
without telling her anything.
Rose called him back, but he was too far away to be able to hear her. He was already a few
blocks away. She laid back on the hard ceiling. She sighed and wondered why she chose
Klensburg instead of another unnamed town.
There was another sharp cry, but it was louder and nearer. Rose got up again and looked around
for her backpack. It was used as a pillow for her. She smiled and searched the backpack for the
blast gun. She flicked the safety switch off and turned her head back and front. There was no sign
of any monsters of corruption yet. Cold sweat trickled down her face as she brought her weapon
back and forth. There was no sign of Kogh either.
Then she thought the monster had gotten Kogh. She started freaking out and knelt on both
knees. She convinced herself that she needed to get out of here as soon as possible. She grabbed
her backpack, dropped her blast gun on the floor and wrestled her backpack for the grappling
hook.
There was the third sharp cry and it came much nearer this time. Her spine jerked up and her
hands reached for the blast gun. She turned around and saw a monster of six limbs. On its back, it
had a scorpion-like tail, with a sharp edge at the end of it. Its mouth was coloured in blood and its
eyes were pure white.
It rushed towards Rose like a ghost and was about to stab its tail into Rose when she pulled the
trigger on the blast gun. The energy pellets went flying and they knocked the monster back a few
feet. She saw blue liquid dripping from the monster. It let out the same cry and thrust its tail at
Rose.
Rose took aim and fired. Some of the pellets missed and they traveled to the night sky. But
some of them pierced through and pushed the tail back as if Kogh pushed at the air with his power,
even though the effect was not full. The monster stagger backwards awkwardly. It suddenly shed
its skin and its skin inside was blue, even the tail. It then charged, its pacing limbs padding against
the floor. She shot her blast gun at the monster again, but this time, it felt nothing, like it had super
armour. She cast her second shot, but it still could not work.
Rose took a deep breath. She should have listened to her father. She puffed out a tone of
happiness and sadness infused together. She closed her eyes shut and braced for impact. But she
could only heard the monster whine and screech again. Then, an impact on the ceiling that caused
a gigantic hole. It went crashing into the cave Rose went into.
It was Kogh who sent a wave of force to the monster's side. Rose opened her eyes and saw
Kogh in front of her. She was not surprised; she was smiling with tears rolling down her cheeks.
She wrapped her arms around Kogh and stayed this way for a long time.
Chapter 6:
Her mask was wet with tears. It laid on the floor, swinging back and forth due to its curved shape.
Rose took a look at her blast gun while Kogh prepared for sleep. Rose was taking first watch, so
she would blame herself if she did not prepare well. In five minutes, Kogh was already asleep,
confirmed by Rose when he was snoring.
Her face shone in the moonlight. Her eyes were gorgeous to the average man. Her face was
shapely and her lips in the right shape and size. But when you looked at her, she would look
deadly and dangerous, even with her long black hair complimenting her face. She wore a mask to
hide her face, and because she did not want to get anyone to fall for her. It was surprising that no
one in school fell for her. Maybe they were not confident enough. It did not matter. She was now
in the Darkness region, a place of adventure, exploration and danger.
She searched her backpack for her journal. The journal was where she wrote everything that had
happened down in that book. It had been two weeks since her disappearance from East. She took
out an ink pen to write her thoughts down.
Hours went by without any sound. Rose's eyes were already starting to droop. Luckily, Kogh
woke up before Rose dozed off.
She had a dream. She was falling in darkness. She had nothing on her. Her backpack was
missing, Kogh was missing. Then, she landed on a certain type of floor without feeling anything.
In front of her, she saw a light. Instinctively, she went for the light, but it kept distancing itself
from her. She started to cry for the light to come back, but it refused and kept going.
When she opened her eyes and jerked up, her face was one centimetre close from Kogh's face.
Kogh felt Rose's sweet breathe and moved away as quickly as possible. She was blushing, but her
face signified terror and horror.
When Kogh was curious about what happened, Rose explained the dream to Kogh. He nodded
and advised her to try and sleep. Kogh went back to his post, flying with his power.
Rose woke up, dreamless when she slept. She was glad for that. But she realised something. It
was not the moon she saw, but the glaring sun. It was shining so brightly that Rose had to squint
her eyes until she got used to it. She had researched the phenomena of the Darkness region. It had
never experienced daylight. But now it did. She shouted for Kogh but she could see no sign of
him.
She heard a scream. A boy's scream, from below. She slowly got up, but hurriedly, on her arms
and dragged herself off the edge and saw Kogh wrestling with something invisible. She shouted a
warning and brought her blast gun. She aimed at the air next to Kogh and fired. The energy pellets
streamed past the air into nothing. But blood was visible.
Kogh let out a shape of stranglers with his power and strained the invisible unknown creature.
Rose fell backwards and laid there for a moment. Kogh pushed the creature away and sent a
fatal blow by forming a blade and cutting it in half. Blood flushed out and droplets landed on
Koghâs face, so he wiped them off with the back of his hand.
He used his force to boost himself up to the roof. Rose was lying on the ground with her journal,
thinking. She turned the journal to the back and he saw diagrams, words too small for him at this
distance and two gigantic letters at each page, one saying âFâ and the other saying âSâ.
She wrote down some notes into the journal, focusing on the daylight theory in the Darkness
region.
She thought about how the sun rose in the Darkness region. It was against all laws of science.
But it happened. The sunlight was too glaring for Rose to even look at its rays. It slowly touched
the whole city like an army marching into war. That was something Rose did not see in a long
time.
Since she could not solve the law-breaking phenomenon, she decided to test things out. She
brought her hammer and glove out and shone both of them at the sunlight. Unexpectedly, the
blade's colour changed from normal silver to elegant purple. She instinctively threw it away from
her but realised it was futile. Though, she discovered something when the axe's blade hit a
concrete wall. Purple liquid formed on the impact and started melting a concrete chunk. It fell off
to the ground and ate a bit of dirt along the way.
She recoiled as she caught the axe at the handle. She turned around to her backpack and pulled
her blast gun out. She was eager, doing everything quickly before the sun disappeared, seizing the
chance. When she presented her blast gun, nothing happened. She was disappointed for some
reason. She put her blast gun back, but Kogh reached his hand out and force pulled her blast gun
and it flew towards Kogh. He apologised and aimed at the same spot where the concrete chunk
was eaten away and shot. The pellets became purple, but only Rose saw the purple projectiles hit
the wall. They ate away at the hard wall at the same speed as the axe.
She came to her conclusion. It was either this star that was shining so brightly was fake or that
her weapons contained some secret material she was not told of. And she was pretty sure the star
was not false.

Speechless traveller

  • 1. A Speechless Story Of A Traveler. Chapter 1: The night was cold. It was darker than any other nights. The wind blew stronger and stronger by the hour. Some of the trees even submitted themselves to the wind. Leaves were left on the ground. Patches of mud were formed without notice. No one wandered Klensburg. The lamps were not working. Only a few twitched with heat and light. The homes lacked people to stay. Rats rushed through the streets, striving for garbage to feast upon. Klensburg was abandoned. No one was here but one person. A traveler came from East, the city of revolution. Rose was a girl of fifteen. She was raised by the royal family. She opposed her father who was against her travelling to the Darkness region. She snapped back at her father with anger and rebelliously left his father's office, leaving the father dazed. She packed equipment, gadgets and food, and left through the window in her room. Rose's footsteps echoed throughout Klensburg. It was rumoured that Klensburg never experienced day, but only night. The ground was not fertile enough to grow wheat and plants. The Darkness region was dry. Clouds were scarce and rain came rarely. Even if water droplets appear from the sky, it would only last a minute. She walked, foot by foot, cautious to her surroundings. Owls hooted and crows flapped their wings as Rose got closer to them. They shocked Rose once, but not twice. She accidentally stepped on a puddle, but moved on without complaining. Rose was the daughter of the mayor in the city. She was energetic, ambitious and outgoing. She wanted an adventure she would never forget. After finding out about the Darkness region in her History class, she talked to her friends about it, but she was ignored. Days went by with anxiety and curiosity growing inside her. Everyone shunted her that day, but she had her maids to talk to. She was oblivious to the maids pretending to care for her, though. For the past few months, she had been searching for the Darkness region through her father's telescope, but no fruits bore. Every other week, she asked her father if she could go there, but every time she asked, he refused. With every week, she grew more courageous and rebellious with her father. The fateful day they had the argument was the day she escaped. She was wearing a brown leather shirt with brown leather pants. She wore leather boots to fit with her clothes. On her face was a mask worn over. It only allowed her to see through her right eye. But she cared less about it than her journey to and in the Darkness region. She laid her hand on a wooden door and pushed it open. The door creaked and whined. She sneaked her head into the door of the gap and jumped. She jerked back and the door broke down. She stepped back and a beast was revealed. Concrete was flying all over the place. Dust scattered and splinters lay on the ground. A head was revealed when the dust floated down to the ground. The rest was slowly revealed. Its head had teeth sharper than any grinder in East. It had ears and a nose as black as the night. It growled at Rose's face.
  • 2. Chapter 2: Rose was catching her breath. She was in a room as big as a blimp that scouted the city for any danger. At times, she missed East and its wonders of technology, but the time was not now. Rose set her gadgets down. Her backpack consisted of a grappling hook and a blast gun that is capable of shooting a spread of bullets. It needed energy in forms of solar, heat and wind, as energy is used to transform into the bullets, or so she had learned from her teacher. She took out an axe and wore a glove. The axe and the glove had a special connection. Rose had no idea how they were made together. She sneaked into her father's weaponry and saw an axe mounted on a pedestal along with a glove around the hilt. She was not aware of its history, as she was never taught that specific weapon in school. She hesitated, but changed her mind to take it. It was a month ago, but she remembered it like it was yesterday. The axe had a unique blade built into it. It curved, then turned a sharp corner away from the hilt wrapped in a material that she never knew about. The glove, on the other hand, had a button situated in the middle of the palm. When she was trying out her weapon the next day in her room, she had trouble at first, but she trained each day and got better at it. When the button was released, the axe would return to the glove like magic. When pressed, the axe may go wherever the owner wants it to go. Rose grabbed the axe and got ready, grabbing her grappling hook in her left hand and positioning herself. When she ran from the beast just now, which was fully in black fur, she noted the places she will have to go to. Everyone accounted her a queer person, but they could not deny her analyzing and problem-solving skills. She definitely took her chances when she ran outside and met the beast face-to-face metres away from each other. She did not look at the beast, but the perch she wanted to reach. She aimed her grappling hook and pulled the trigger. The hook flew and grabbed onto the perch. She released and held on, and, like the hook, flew and landed. Rose did not know that this perch was the edge of a building. The beast was already running when she was flying. The claw it swung missed her by inches, and roared at her. Rose saw it hunch back. She ran and heard a crash behind her as the beast landed on the building. She turned back, but still running at the same direction, and threw her axe. She did not need to remember to press the button. It was her habit now. The axe twirled like a bullet and smashed the beast's nose back. Rose heard a crack and released her fingers. The axe flew back into the glove without mistakes. The beast was stunned. She smiled, but kept on running. Too happy that she did not realize she plunged into a hole.
  • 3. Chapter 3: Her right eye opened. The area was dark, but somehow humid, according to Rose. She could already see a bit of this place, but it was still unknown to her. She felt the ground and picked herself up, along with her grappling hook. She tensed at the moment she remembered the beast, but relaxed a second later. Her backside felt painful, but not to a point that she could not move. The ground was rocky, rough and hard. A cave was what she would have guessed, but she was not sure. She threw her axe like a boomerang and it came back to her without knocking anything. She relied on her axe like it was her companion. She grew more and more attached to the weapon as hours went by, training with real effort. She kept swinging her axe and catching it back as she walked. Once, she stepped on a jagged stone and shrieked as the stone pained her foot. She kicked it sideways using the side of her boot. It hopped away swiftly. Her axe hit something. Something hard. She thought it was a dead end, when she felt the wall and found a door knob. She was puzzled by it. The door knob was wet with the humidity in this supposed cave. She turned it and pushed it open. She heard a moan beyond the door. She could see a figure, but thatwas all. She stepped back, to be safe. As she stepped backwards, the moan got louder until it was qualified as a shout. Experimentally, she went forward. The shout turned into the same moan, softer and softer. The figure, whom she determined was a male teenager, could see her from outside. She wondered how. She changed her mind, risking her own safety for her curiosity. She stepped forward once again and opened the door. The figure stood in front of her, inches apart. She was right about her determination. He was about the same height as Rose and he did not look frail or weak at all. In fact, he looked healthy. But she could not see his face. Thatwas all she could identify when he grabbed her with open arms, catching her off guard. He pulled her whole body to his and they went behind the door. He kicked the door shut. Rose was outraged when he did that, when the black beast came crashing into the supposed cave, which, revealed by the moonlight, was actually just a room with rocky surfaces. Rose's right eye looked at the boy. His face looked so innocent and Rose felt both thankful and sorry for him. He had a look that Rose found attractive, but she had no time to fall in love. The beast was outside. She got up immediately and pulled the boy up to his feet. Her right eye, which was adjusted to the darkness now, saw a small trail ahead. She took the boy's hand and moved, with the boy stumbling almost every step. The beast crashed through the wall and roared. It boomed throughout the mysterious room as Rose got her axe ready. She lifted her axe, but the boy pushed her arm down. She did not protest, though. The boy lifted his arm instead and let a light pulse from his palm. Amysterious force pushed the beast back a few metres. It staggered backwards, then fell to the ground. Then there was a roar of pain as the jagged stone Rose stumbled upon earlier pierced through the skin of the beast. Rose smiled underneath her mask and began to trust this boy. They went around a corner and hid in a small and perfect hiding spot. She asked for his name in East language. Surprisingly, he understood.
  • 4. His name was Kogh. He was from East as well, but he was made a clone for experiments. He was required to take an extreme amount of pills unknown to him. Then, scientists would experiment on his health, but mostly on his performance in fighting. The pills he took granted him a certain power. It was a successful experiment. But that was just one they had done. They had a lot more experiments in queue for him. Clones did not have emotions. But the power he obtained also granted a conscious. Emotions. And most importantly, the will to be free. Rose had heard of cloning, but that was just a rumour. She had not known that was true. Maybe her father had been keeping some secrets from her. Or that he did not even know himself. She asked more, like how he escaped and what his powers do. He smiled sadly and shook his head. The memories hurt him, especially the moment he found out he was just going to be used as a weapon. Rose nodded her head slowly and apologetically, understanding how he felt. The time passed for a few hours. They started to sweat a few minutes later. They had not heard the beast for quite some time. Rose thought it was dead. But Kogh had a suspicion that the beast was still here, but injured. Rose took out her blast gun and flicked the safety switch off. She was confident, but Kogh was cautious. Kogh was reluctant, but he nodded to Rose, and they started off.
  • 5. Chapter 4: The monster was out there, somewhere. Rose was practically running around in the maze of a room, with zigzag paths and sharp turns. Kogh was trying to sense the beast as he walked through a path. Finding it was tedious. The beast was suddenly silent this time, maybe because it was hurt, but Rose was getting bored by the second. Kogh was still cautious and his eyes were wide open, to the point of madness. His eyes were constantly moving left and right, even if he was looking at walls of concrete. Rose heard a pebble being kicked away. She quickly positioned her blast gun at the source of the sound. Sweat trickled down her face as she prepared for the beast to jump out of the corner. But it was just a rat that jumped out of the corner. Rose loosened her shoulder at that moment, letting her blast gun hang loose from her fingers. She heard another sound, but something different, like the ground being clawed onto. She turned around and saw the beast already in the air, lunging at her. She grinned mischievously as she took her blast gun up. She ran towards the beast, then lowered herself into a roll, moving under the beast as it crashed onto the dirt. She got up as quick as possible and pulled her trigger. The energy shots were fired and they traveled towards the beast. Its cranium was pierced, over and over, from the spread of the energy shots. Kogh appeared behind the beast and sent an invisible force. Something thin and long. Rose saw a hole appear on its abdomen as it fell to the ground, yielding. Rose smiled at Kogh and he returned it. The beast had tender meat in it. Plus, they could use the fur for coats. She immediately took our her glove with the axe and kept away her blast gun. She walked casually towards the beast and was ready to swing her axe. The beast opened its jaws and ripped Rose's foot off. Then the beast fell and died, finally. She shrieked as the blood spilled from her ankle and the boot, along with the foot, were eaten. She dropped to the ground on her backside and threw her axe towards its face. Its sharp teeth were broken into pieces enough to scratch its tongue until it bled. Kogh ran over to help out, using the force to stop her leg from bleeding. He took off his T-shirt and tore a part of it. He used it as a temporary bandage until he found a new one. The blood slowly spread throughout the cloth, turning it blood red. Kogh took Rose out of the area and hid in the same hiding spot. The shirt soaked too much blood that the path they went through had a trail of red. Without permission, Kogh went through her backpack and found a grappling hook. He nodded, then carried her on his back. He went back to where he moaned and noticed the crashed wall. He struggled, but managed until he saw a hole that allowed some light in. With one arm holding Rose and the other holding the grappling hook, he fired, but the first attempt was a failure. He almost had it by the third attempt. The fourth attempt was successful, the hook stabbing into the concrete ceiling outside. He did not know how to make the rope retract, so he threw the gun of the grappling hook into the hole and pushed himself forward with force and reached the hole. His right hand grabbed into the edge. He pulled himself up, glad that the hole was big enough for both of them. With the remains of his shirt, he blanketed her with the shirt and laid on the concrete, sighing with relief. Now, it is only a matter of time until he found something else to recover her foot. Maybe with a mechanical foot. The Darkness region was never known for technology. It was a region of death, darkness and corruption. The beast was one of the monsters of corruption, but he

He shuddered at the thought and promised Rose out loud, even though she fainted, that he would be strong enough to keep both of them alive, provided Rose does the same. He laughed at the second part of the promise, even though it was serious. He stood guard and looked out for anything in the bright moonlight.
  • 7. Chapter 5: Kogh sat on the concrete edge of the roof. His legs were swaying around in a lazy movement. He was swaying with his legs, but in different directions. The cool breeze touched his bare chest and it felt soothing to him. Back then, when Kogh did not wield the mysterious power, he was mindless and without any thoughts. He was like a baby, or even less intelligible. He was a clone, after all. His memories could not go further into that detail of being created. Things he could remember, like when he took his first experimental pill or withstanding a block of metal slamming into him, were vague. But he knew that a sliver of power from the pills entered his brains and activated it. His back and head jerked up as he heard someone moan. It was Rose's voice. He turned his head and went to her while inspecting her body. Rose still had her foot missing and most of the blood dried up in the torn cloth. He saw Rose open her eyes, then closed. He quickly walked over to her face and scrutinised it. Nothing was wrong. But she woke up too early to be able to recover from the pain she had experienced. It was only a few minutes ago. There was a sharp cry coming from one of the buildings. Kogh was not sure. But he was sure that the sharpcry woke up Rose. She got up like lightning and realised her foot was torn off by the black beast. Kogh looked at her foot and he blasted himself off the ceiling to another building without telling her anything. Rose called him back, but he was too far away to be able to hear her. He was already a few blocks away. She laid back on the hard ceiling. She sighed and wondered why she chose Klensburg instead of another unnamed town. There was another sharp cry, but it was louder and nearer. Rose got up again and looked around for her backpack. It was used as a pillow for her. She smiled and searched the backpack for the blast gun. She flicked the safety switch off and turned her head back and front. There was no sign of any monsters of corruption yet. Cold sweat trickled down her face as she brought her weapon back and forth. There was no sign of Kogh either. Then she thought the monster had gotten Kogh. She started freaking out and knelt on both knees. She convinced herself that she needed to get out of here as soon as possible. She grabbed her backpack, dropped her blast gun on the floor and wrestled her backpack for the grappling hook. There was the third sharp cry and it came much nearer this time. Her spine jerked up and her hands reached for the blast gun. She turned around and saw a monster of six limbs. On its back, it had a scorpion-like tail, with a sharp edge at the end of it. Its mouth was coloured in blood and its eyes were pure white. It rushed towards Rose like a ghost and was about to stab its tail into Rose when she pulled the trigger on the blast gun. The energy pellets went flying and they knocked the monster back a few feet. She saw blue liquid dripping from the monster. It let out the same cry and thrust its tail at Rose. Rose took aim and fired. Some of the pellets missed and they traveled to the night sky. But some of them pierced through and pushed the tail back as if Kogh pushed at the air with his power, even though the effect was not full. The monster stagger backwards awkwardly. It suddenly shed its skin and its skin inside was blue, even the tail. It then charged, its pacing limbs padding against the floor. She shot her blast gun at the monster again, but this time, it felt nothing, like it had super armour. She cast her second shot, but it still could not work.
  • 8. Rose took a deep breath. She should have listened to her father. She puffed out a tone of happiness and sadness infused together. She closed her eyes shut and braced for impact. But she could only heard the monster whine and screech again. Then, an impact on the ceiling that caused a gigantic hole. It went crashing into the cave Rose went into. It was Kogh who sent a wave of force to the monster's side. Rose opened her eyes and saw Kogh in front of her. She was not surprised; she was smiling with tears rolling down her cheeks. She wrapped her arms around Kogh and stayed this way for a long time.
  • 9. Chapter 6: Her mask was wet with tears. It laid on the floor, swinging back and forth due to its curved shape. Rose took a look at her blast gun while Kogh prepared for sleep. Rose was taking first watch, so she would blame herself if she did not prepare well. In five minutes, Kogh was already asleep, confirmed by Rose when he was snoring. Her face shone in the moonlight. Her eyes were gorgeous to the average man. Her face was shapely and her lips in the right shape and size. But when you looked at her, she would look deadly and dangerous, even with her long black hair complimenting her face. She wore a mask to hide her face, and because she did not want to get anyone to fall for her. It was surprising that no one in school fell for her. Maybe they were not confident enough. It did not matter. She was now in the Darkness region, a place of adventure, exploration and danger. She searched her backpack for her journal. The journal was where she wrote everything that had happened down in that book. It had been two weeks since her disappearance from East. She took out an ink pen to write her thoughts down. Hours went by without any sound. Rose's eyes were already starting to droop. Luckily, Kogh woke up before Rose dozed off. She had a dream. She was falling in darkness. She had nothing on her. Her backpack was missing, Kogh was missing. Then, she landed on a certain type of floor without feeling anything. In front of her, she saw a light. Instinctively, she went for the light, but it kept distancing itself from her. She started to cry for the light to come back, but it refused and kept going. When she opened her eyes and jerked up, her face was one centimetre close from Kogh's face. Kogh felt Rose's sweet breathe and moved away as quickly as possible. She was blushing, but her face signified terror and horror. When Kogh was curious about what happened, Rose explained the dream to Kogh. He nodded and advised her to try and sleep. Kogh went back to his post, flying with his power. Rose woke up, dreamless when she slept. She was glad for that. But she realised something. It was not the moon she saw, but the glaring sun. It was shining so brightly that Rose had to squint her eyes until she got used to it. She had researched the phenomena of the Darkness region. It had never experienced daylight. But now it did. She shouted for Kogh but she could see no sign of him. She heard a scream. A boy's scream, from below. She slowly got up, but hurriedly, on her arms and dragged herself off the edge and saw Kogh wrestling with something invisible. She shouted a warning and brought her blast gun. She aimed at the air next to Kogh and fired. The energy pellets streamed past the air into nothing. But blood was visible. Kogh let out a shape of stranglers with his power and strained the invisible unknown creature. Rose fell backwards and laid there for a moment. Kogh pushed the creature away and sent a fatal blow by forming a blade and cutting it in half. Blood flushed out and droplets landed on Koghâs face, so he wiped them off with the back of his hand. He used his force to boost himself up to the roof. Rose was lying on the ground with her journal, thinking. She turned the journal to the back and he saw diagrams, words too small for him at this distance and two gigantic letters at each page, one saying âFâ and the other saying âSâ. She wrote down some notes into the journal, focusing on the daylight theory in the Darkness region. She thought about how the sun rose in the Darkness region. It was against all laws of science.
  • 10. But it happened. The sunlight was too glaring for Rose to even look at its rays. It slowly touched the whole city like an army marching into war. That was something Rose did not see in a long time. Since she could not solve the law-breaking phenomenon, she decided to test things out. She brought her hammer and glove out and shone both of them at the sunlight. Unexpectedly, the blade's colour changed from normal silver to elegant purple. She instinctively threw it away from her but realised it was futile. Though, she discovered something when the axe's blade hit a concrete wall. Purple liquid formed on the impact and started melting a concrete chunk. It fell off to the ground and ate a bit of dirt along the way. She recoiled as she caught the axe at the handle. She turned around to her backpack and pulled her blast gun out. She was eager, doing everything quickly before the sun disappeared, seizing the chance. When she presented her blast gun, nothing happened. She was disappointed for some reason. She put her blast gun back, but Kogh reached his hand out and force pulled her blast gun and it flew towards Kogh. He apologised and aimed at the same spot where the concrete chunk was eaten away and shot. The pellets became purple, but only Rose saw the purple projectiles hit the wall. They ate away at the hard wall at the same speed as the axe. She came to her conclusion. It was either this star that was shining so brightly was fake or that her weapons contained some secret material she was not told of. And she was pretty sure the star was not false.
