Topographic survey refers to measuring the surface of the earth, in particular the study area, with standard known coordinates (0-0 origin for x and y coordinates) for Northing and Easting, and vertical (Z) coordinate, where Mean Sea Level in m PWD is considered as 0 m PWD. This survey covers land levels/ spot levels for contours at 0.3 m intervals with denser intervals for undulations, structures in the survey area including buildings, industries, lakes, rivers, canals, roads etc. have surveyed and located in map in predefined co-ordinate system and parameters. 10. The project location is very close to Sunderban and Bea of Bengal. Lots of Rivers are surrounding there. Due to climate change, two devastating cyclones with tidal surges Sidr and Aila occurred consecutively. During cyclone, tidal surges inundated vast area and the embankment system makes the area as a polder which obstructs water drainage. So for any types of infrastructural development (Especially housing), height of the basement could be an important considering aspect. We discussed with local people regarding the basement height of housing reconstruction considering last cyclone Aila, they commented and from different sources found that the LGED road was inundated about 0.304 to 0.381 meter . So our recommendation is building basement would be at least 0.457 to 0.50 meter high from the existing road level. Conclusion and Recommendation
