3. THE QURAN
• The prophet dictated the word of God as revealed to him
by the Angel Gabriel.
• The collection of these recitations is the Quran, or Koran
(meaning ‘the recitation’).
• And indeed it is a book of exalted power. No falsehood
can approach it from before or behind it.
• The hole of the Quran was written down in the lifetime
of the Prophet. Unlike the scriptures of the other major
religions which were recorded long after the lives of their
founder.
4. • Its 114 chapters, called Surah. Each chapter
begins with the verse “In the name of God, the
Merciful the Compassionate”.
• It is to be noted also that the Quran, as the word
of God, is unchangeable.
Indeed, it is we who sent down the Qu,ran
and indeed, We will be its guardian.
(Al- Hijr 15:9)
5. • The earlier revelations during the Mecca
period deal largely with questions of
belief and morals.
• Later, after his migration to medina, that
muslims lived in an organized society,
mainly on principles regarding law,
economy, muamalat and etc.
6. ETHICS IN THE QURAN
And let those (executors and guardians) fear
(injustice) as if they (themselves) had left weak
offspring behind and feared for them. So let them
fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.
(An- Nisa’ 4:9)
O you Who have believed, do not enter houses
other than your own houses until you ascertain
welcome and greet their inhabitants. That is best for
you; perhaps you will be reminded.
(An- Nuur 24:27)
8. THE SUNNAH
• Literally means a manner of acting, a rule of conduct, a
mode of life.
• Applied to the life of the Prophet this meant, a rule
deduced from the sayings or conduct of the Prophet.
• Who never spoke from his own imagination but told only
what Allah had revealed unto him.
• The holy Quran bears witness to this fact:
“ Nor does he say (ought) of his own desire. It is no
less than inspiration sent down to him”
9. THE SUNNAH
• The muslims were taught by the Prophet in the following
manners:
1. Verbal teaching
2. Teaching through writing
3. Teaching by the practical demostration
