search of food, water and shelter. So, you can
help immensely by providing basic care to
them.

18. Who are animal abuser?
People who willingly hurt animals and are
consciously beating strays because of their
frustration and anger.
Animal abuse is considered as illegal in India.
Commonly feeders and helpers are harassed
which is also considered as illegal.
Youth like you can help to bring to an end to
this ill-practice.
19. Rights related to strays and animal
lovers.
The Delhi High Court has stated that there are
no laws that prohibit people from feeding stray
animals.
20. It is the fundamental duty of every citizen of
India to have compassion for all living creature
Abandoning any animal for any reason can
land you in prison for up to three months.
Stray dogs that have been operated for birth
control cannot be captured or relocated by
anybody including any authority.
The Animal Welfare Board of India issues IDs for
people who feed stray animals.
21. It is a criminal offence to feed stray animals
poisonous food.
Punishment is a fine of at least Rs 2,000
and/or a jail term of up to five years.
