9. Located in Greensboro, NC, The Graffiti Garden is a community space where anyone can eat the fresh produce grown here. My group and I worked
to create a design that would foster learning & gardening, while encouraging neighbors to help each other fight the problem of living a “food desert.”

13. This project involed designing a multi-level home for an older, wealthy couple. The apartment is located in Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive
Apartments designed by Mies van der Rohe. The mid-century modern exterior influenced the layout and materials used in the main living spaces.

14. Steel, black glass, and an
emphasis on verticality
create the floating staircase
down to the secluded master
suite. A pendant in the cen-
ter of the steel rods creates
an amazing pattern on the
ceiling at night.
The Stairwell, Living Room,
and Kitchen all create an
open concept space.
It flows wonderfully and allows
for spectacular views, day
and night, while entertaining
guests .
Bright whites, reds, and tint-
ed glass create a rich color
palatte that envokes class
and elagance.

17. Ann Hamilton was my assigned artist. I drew inspiration from one of her photographs titled “Reflections” in order to create linework, a color scheme, and a
sculpture. The final phase was to design a scale model of a museum on UNCG’s campus to house Ann Hamilton’s creative works along with my sculpture.

Hamilton’s “Event of a
Thread” Installation is
mimicked here through the
large white sheets that flow
from the ceiling. One sheet
pushes through an opening
in the 2nd storys’ floor and
flows through to the 1st floor
in front of the entry.
The ceiling of the 2nd floor is
vaulted with a central strip of
skylights. Exposed wooden
trusses are seen here.
Short, elongated windows
are along the bottom of
the side walls on the 1st
floor. This gives the illusion of
a floating wall & allows for
indirect natural light that will
preserve the art.

FINAL MODEL
19. “Reflections” (top left) was my
inspiration for this entire proj-
ect.
It influenced the material of my
sculpture (glass), as well as the
color palette & wave-like
arrangement.
I then designed a Museum
that would be built on UN-
CG’s campus near the Jackson
Library.
Taking the site and altitude of
the sun into account, I de-
signed a space that would
house the follwoing:
1) 12 Reflection photographs
2) 2 other photographed
works
3) Installation
4) My Sculpture

30. Glenn Murcutt is one of Australia’s most famous Architects. Step 1 of this project was to recreate all of the Floor Plans, Sections, and
Elevations for the Simpson-Lee House by hand. Step 2 was to compile all of the information into Revit and produce renderings of the final product.

Canyon landscape scene a
natural & unexpected texture.
One of my largest paintings.
Full range of color provides
constant visual intrigue.
The geometric shapes
become more apparent as
you move closer.
Process:
1) Create geometric shapes
over a photograph in Adobe
Illustrator
2) Print and Trace onto
Bamboo Mat
3) Paint each shape!

Same process as used with
the Geometric Grand
Canyon.
A mix of bright, warm colors
and muted cool colors shows
the splendor of the sun
shining off Mt. Everest’s peak
as it rises.
There is movement on the
peak with blustery, snowy
winds vs. the calm and hard
lines near the base of the
mountain.

37. RACHEL TABER
Thank you for taking the time to look at my portfolio!
My name is Rachel, and I was born in Florida. My father has been a Marine for 24 years, so this
caused my family and I to move every four years until I was 20. I graduated High School in NC, got my
Associate’s degree in Art in California, and moved back to North Carolina to get my Bachelor’s in
Interior Architecture at UNCG. North Carolina has no comparison, and I choose to call it my true home.
I have always had a passion for interior design, renovations, and DIY. Growing up, my parents bought fixer-
uppers, and we lived in each home while we renovated them. Becuase of this, I have been knee deep
in rubble, I have walked on grimy concete floors for 9 months, and I have grown larger shoulder
muscles from re-texturing the ceiling of an entire house. Each time, I became more creative and
knowledgeable about the processes of demolition, ideation, design, renovation, staging, and
the final sale. I was taught to “Measure Twice & Cut Once,” and I like to get the job done right the
first time. I am an energetic, fast-paced learner and always eager to try something new and exciting!
Discover your world.
Design for it.
