The YURI FEDOROV SPORTS LAB. company started operation in 2006 by promoting the first WBC
(the World Boxing Counsel) world heavyweight championship in Russian history between Oleg Maskaev of
Russia and Peter Okhello of Uganda. The fight took place on December 10 th 2006 in the 'Olympiysky' sports
complex in Moscow. It drew over 15000 boxing fans to the stands of the boxing arena and was being viewed in
every ninth Russian household live on the NTV channel. 'The match promoted by YURI FEDOROV SPORTS
LAB. was a great success and a major date in the sporting calendar of Russia of the year', as Mayor of Moscow
Yuri Luzhkov wrote in his letter to the WBC President Jose Sulaiman. Russia has never seen a boxing show of
such level before. The event was honored in person by the senior VP Dmitry Medvedev, Minister of Sports
Vyacheslav Fetisov, Minister of Culture Alexander Sokolov, world renowned boxers Nikolai Valuev, Vitaly
Klichko, Kostya Tszyu, singer songwriter Alexander Rosenbaum and many other VIPs of political, sporting and
cultural background of Russia.
On June 30th, 2007 YURI FEDOROV SPORTS LAB. promoted a rating fight between Alexander Povetkin
and Larry Donald which was also broadcast live on NTV and rebroadcast in CIS, USA, Germany and Japan.
On October 13th, 2007 in the 'Megasport' arena the WBO world heavyweight championship took place
between Sultan Ibragimov of Russia and Evander Holyfield of the U.S. That fight was one of the biggest events of
the year in Russian sports. It drew over 14000 boxing fans to the stands of the arena.
On September 6th, 2008 on Moscow’s City Day the company promoted ‘Ring Stars In The Red Square’
event, unprecedented in Russian entertainment history. On a warm September night under the glow of the Kremlin
stars the best Russian professional boxers showcased their talent. Magomed Abdusalamov, Habib Allahverdiev
(both - Russia) and Timur Ibragimov of Uzbekistan all won their undercard fights. In the main event the famous
Russian heavyweight Oleg Maskaev defeated Robert Hawkins of the U.S.
By holding boxing shows of international appeal the YURI FEDOROV SPORTS LAB. company builds a
ground for the development of professional boxing in Russia and for today is the only promoter of world class
boxing events in this country.
In September 2007 YURI FEDOROV SPORTS LAB. launched a full color glossy magazine dedicated to
world boxing – 'Ring Stars'. A new issue comes out every two months with a circulation of 20.000 copies.
