3. Introduction
INTRODUCTION
The PITUITARY gland is also know as hypophysis gland.
It's diameter is 1cm and
● Weight of gland 0.5 to 1gm
● It lies at the base of brain in Sella Turacica
● it is connected with hypothalamus by Pituitary stalk or hybophyseal stalk

4. Divison
Pitutay gland is divided into two part
1. Anterior pituitary or adinohypophysis.
2. Posterior PITUITARY or neurahyppphysis.
ANTERIOR PITUITARY.
It consists of three divisions.
1. Pars distalis.
2. Pars tuberalis.
3. Pars intermedia
DEVELOPMENT.
● It develops from the ectodermal origin.
● It arise from pharengial epithelium.
● And posterior PITUITARY is neuroectodermal. Origin

5. HISTOLOGY
I
It depending upon the staining
● Chromophole cells
● Chromophile cells
Regulation of secretion.
1. Hypothalamo-
hypophyseal relationship.
2. Regulation of anterior
pituitary secretion.
3. Releasing and enhibitary
harmone

6. HARMONE SECRETED BY ANTERIOR PITUITARY.
The anterior pituitary is also know as master gland.
Because it regulate many other endocrine gland.
1. Growth hormone [GH]or somatotropic hormone [STH].
2. Thyroid stimulating harmone [TSH]
3. Adenocorticotropic harmone [ACTH]
4. Follicle stimulating harmone [FSH]
5. Lutenising harmone [LH].
6. Prolactin

7. POSTERIOR PITUITARY GLAND.
It consists of three divisions.
1. The pars nervosa or infundibulum process.
2. Neural stalk or infundibulum stem.
3. Median eminence.
DEVELOPMENT
It develops from the neuroectodermal.
Histology.
It is made up of neural type of cells
It also unmyelinated nerve fibres are formed

2. Unmyelinated Nerve fibres.
3. Other structures-neurohypophysis also has
numerous blood vessels hyalin bodies nueroglial
cells and mast cell harmone.
Harmone of posterior pituitary gland.
● Antidiuretic harmone [ADH] vosoprossin.
● Oxytocin
Posterior PITUITARY dose not secreted any harmone
which ADH and OXITOCIN are senthesise in the
hypothalamus
