The Rubáiyát is a book of poems by Medieval Persian philosopher and
mathematician Omar Khayyam (1048-1131 CE). English writer and poet
Edward Fitzgerald translated the poems to English for the first time in
1860, and they were published to great acclaim. In 1911, the publishing
house Sangorski & Sutcliffe made a particularly lavish copy of The
Rubáiyát. It featured a Moroccan leather cover, decorated with
embroidered peacocks and more than a thousand gems set in gold. The
impressive volume went on exhibition in England before being auctioned
off to an American buyer for a little over $2,000. It was to be shipped to
its new owner, but the owner never received it. The book hasn’t been
found since.

X was just a boy when he was first spotted by Charlie Chaplin. He became
a household name when he appeared along with Chaplin in the silent
movie - The Kid. He later became a successful actor, appearing in a lot of
movies and earning a handsome amount of money in return.
Though, he could never enjoy the riches he had earned. X’s parents had
spent most of his wealth without his knowledge. He was forced to fight a
court case and in the end recovered only a small portion of his earnings
and hence fell into financial hardships.
His case became the basis of a significant amendment in the law,
colloquially named after him. Now, the producers of the movies
compulsorily need to open a special account for children while working
on the shows so that their earnings are not exploited.

130m in the large hill event of Ski Jumping, Funaki bagged the first place in
the competition. While doing so, he achieved something that had never
been achieved in Ski Jumping at the Olympics.
A similar achievement (in a different sport) was made by a European

In a sailor’s lexicon, instead of left and right, the terms Starboard
and ____ are used.
Unlike left and right, which depend on the direction the speaker is
facing, these two terms refer to a fixed side of the ship and are thus
unambiguous.
The origin of these terms is quite old since the times when ships or
boats had a steering ore. Since most sailors were right handed, the
oar used to be on the right (if facing front), which started being
referred to as the Steering side, later becoming the Starboard.
The other side is thus named because it was always the side
opposite to the Starboard that would face _____.

The reason behind why the person named his most famous creation such is
that while working on it, he followed a certain naming procedure and it was the
twentieth prototype that became the most famous. After its success, he
didn’t follow the naming convention, rather the next in line was named after the
very first prototype he built as he wanted to build from the start.
Name this creation (X).
Among other names that the creation acquired, one got really famous. One of
the origin stories behind this name is that at one event, one of the participants
got a really old X named Old Lizz (as Lizz was a popular name given to horses at
that time). Due to its shabby appearance, it was compared to a can and was
called Y. At the end, it was the owner of Old Lizz that won and when the
newspapers published this news, the name Y got stuck as a colloquial name for
X.

A ______ has Parisian origins. The earliest of these were opened when
landlords opened small kitchens and restaurants in their homes to earn some
extra money. These places generally provide very simple food (which can be
prepared in quantity and be easily stored) and have a very informal setting.
A likely etymology suggests that they got their names because of a ‘short burst
of outsiders’ in the second decade of the 19th
century. The outsiders while
demanding food and alcohol from these places would shout ‘hurry up’
(translated) in their native language, which the French picked up and gave the
name to these developments.
Another theory suggests that they got their names from the French word for
‘innkeeper’.

The idea was to add this material along with the already specified

break easily, more so, when the people would bite it. To solve this

few years back celebrates the 125th

self-respect, while the white flower stands as a
symbol of this movement which people wore to
show their support to this movement. The loop
at the number 2 also represents an unfurling
plant, which is central to this country’s heritage.

It is a game with no rules and the players make different rules as they go along.
Any rules can't be used twice and any plays made in one game may not be made
again in any future games. The only permanent rule is that players can't play it the
same way twice.
According to the creator of the game, all our games sooner or later will turn into X.
He had created this game because he became tired of organized sports. Although
the first game was played when he failed to join the baseball team.
Some lines from the theme song by the creator (with his friend singing backup with
"Rumma-Tum-Tums"):
It's never the same! It's always bizarre!
You don't need a team or a referee!
You know that it's great, 'cause it's named after me!
Identify the game we are talking about?

series of engineering projects that are spread across the country, which are necessary
considering its geographical disadvantage.
These two parts are one of
the largest movable objects in
the world, although as of
present, only once they were
required to move, apart from
their yearly maintenance
checks.
In which country would you

In WWII, after cracking the Enigma, the British intelligence got to know that a certain
city was going to be bombed by an air raid by the Germans. This put the British
Intelligence agency in a fix, they had to save the civilians but they also couldn’t
evacuate the city because that would send a signal to the Germans that the Enigma
had been cracked and the British wouldn’t want to lose out such a big advantage.
There has been a lot of speculations whether something like this actually happened or
not, but this seems to be the origin story of a certain term popular among intelligence
analysts. This term is used to refer to the dilemma of whether to take actions on the
information received, as it could potentially reveal what all they know.
This concept played a part in the movie “The Imitation Game” and also in “A Scandal in
Belgravia” episode of Sherlock series.
What is this alliterative term we are looking for, which contains the name of an
English city?

In 1990s, Pepsi came out with Crystal Pepsi, a non-caffeinated drink with
less sugar. Unlike the red-brown cola, these drinks were clear liquids,
riding on the idea that clear liquids were good for health.
The drink was an initial hit with record sales. Coca-Cola in an effort to stop
it came up with a kamikaze plan and launched Tab Clear, a rival to Crystal
Pepsi.
The plan was successful, in under 6 months, both the drinks were out of
the market.
What was the advertising or marketing strategy that confused the
consumers which ultimately led to failure of both the products?

These quotes by the people involved explain the reason behind the naming of
this recent documentary X:
“Phil always looked for a theme for every season, and given that it was the last year
we were gonna be together — management had already made that decision — in
typical Phil fashion, he had a name for it,”
“We’d arrived at the practice facility, it’s our first official meeting as a team,”
“Get the team handbook, laminated on the front page, X.”
“I talked to the players about particularly how important it was for us to really be
together in this last run that we were going to have,” Phil said. “So I called it X.”
What was X, which marked the end of a “dynasty?

In 2017, Springer had released a scientific challenge as a part of its regular series. It was a
scientific riddle asking to explain why the variety of certain natural products found only in
this region could give XY its characteristic color.
The solution given, gave this reason (as explained further in simpler words):
The science behind this is that the primary substance added (which is added in all types of Y)
contains polyphenols which act as an acid-base indicator, turning yellow at acidic pH and red in
alkaline conditions. So, when baking soda is added to it, the solution turns basic, thus getting a
red color. The color then gets diluted in the later process, thus giving this item its characteristic
color.
It is believed that Y was brought to this region through the silk route, but the use of baking
soda in Y, may have come from the highlands of the east. Also, if that helps, it is salty in
taste, unlike the many types Y we are familiar with.
What are we describing thus?

These places generally provide very simple food (which can be prepared in quantity and be easily stored) and have a very informal setting. A likely etymology suggests that they got their names because of a ‘short burst of outsiders’ in the second decade of the 19th century. The outsiders while demanding food and alcohol from these places would shout ‘hurry up’ (translated) in their native language, which the French picked up and gave the name to these developments. Another theory suggests that they got their names from the French word for ‘innkeeper’. FITB and also answer, who were these ‘outsiders’? CLOCK WISE QUES5

  • 137. Trials by Trivia In WWII, after cracking the Enigma, the British intelligence got to know that a certain city was going to be bombed by an air raid by the Germans. This put the British Intelligence agency in a fix, they had to save the civilians but they also couldn’t evacuate the city because that would send a signal to the Germans that the Enigma had been cracked and the British wouldn’t want to lose out such a big advantage. There has been a lot of speculations whether something like this actually happened or not, but this seems to be the origin story of a certain term popular among intelligence analysts. This term is used to refer to the dilemma of whether to take actions on the information received, as it could potentially reveal what all they know. This concept played a part in the movie “The Imitation Game” and also in “A Scandal in Belgravia” episode of Sherlock series. • 146. Trials by Trivia In 2017, Springer had released a scientific challenge as a part of its regular series. It was a scientific riddle asking to explain why the variety of certain natural products found only in this region could give XY its characteristic color. The solution given, gave this reason (as explained further in simpler words): The science behind this is that the primary substance added (which is added in all types of Y) contains polyphenols which act as an acid-base indicator, turning yellow at acidic pH and red in alkaline conditions. So, when baking soda is added to it, the solution turns basic, thus getting a red color. The color then gets diluted in the later process, thus giving this item its characteristic color. It is believed that Y was brought to this region through the silk route, but the use of baking soda in Y, may have come from the highlands of the east. Also, if that helps, it is salty in taste, unlike the many types Y we are familiar with. What are we describing thus? ANTI CLOCKWISE QUES7
