Work Experience
Quintin joined the family business at Turkey Hill Dairy in 1980. In 1985, the company was sold
to the Kroger Company a Fortune 50 U.S company. Leading up to his appointment as President
of the company in 1991, Quintin served in roles of increasing responsibility, particularly in
Administration, Sales, and Marketing. In his 22years as President he had complete profit and
loss responsibility. The company tripled in size to well over $300,000,000 in net Sales. During
this time the facility was expanded numerous times including the launch of a new 90,000 square
foot distribution facility in addition to the 250,000 square foot manufacturing facility. Total full
time employees exceeded over 800 employees and a distribution fleet including 100 tractors and
40 straight trucks.
Market expansion during his presidency expanded from the tri-state area of PA/NJ/MD to
include most of the 50 contiguous states, Alaska, Puerto Rico and four countries of South
America. Key to this growth was the recognition of the brand’s value and the benefits of
branding. Ice cream, lemonade and iced tea are major product lines and rank nationally in their
respective categories among the top 5 brands.
Quintin brings a passion to build respected brands through creative products and marketing
vehicles, proving that you don’t need to have the most resources to become the most successful
brand. A brand must be authentic to its core essence and attentive to the desires and aspirations
of its consumers.
With over 30 years in the food manufacturing, marketing and distribution business, Quintin has
developed a keen understanding of operations, is certified in Lean Manufacturing, instituted
coordinated demand planning and JIT partnerships with suppliers, and initiated multiple
sustainability initiatives for the company.
In partnership with the local solid waste authority, and electric utility, Turkey Hill receives 25%
of its electric as the sole customer of two 1.8 mwh wind turbines located on Turkey Hill. These
same partners created a national award winning “Trash to Electric and Steam” program that
burns landfill gases to generate electricity. Turkey Hill procures the steam from water used to
2. cool the generators to replace steam generated by a fossil fueled boiler. Recycling tons of plastic
and card board as well as the reusable and ubiquitous milk crates reduces trash to landfill to near
zero. In addition to these, a cogeneration project to use internally generated biogas from the
waste water treatment plant to heat the plants reactor eliminated the use of fossil fuel for heat.
Operations at Turkey Hill also included distribution of the products produced. As a result
Quintin understands the logistics of handling temperature controlled and short shelf life products
through complicated and multiple distribution channels - Direct Store Delivery, Distributor and
Cold Storage Warehouse across retail and institutional networks. Inventory turns of frozen
occurred 20 times annually, and refrigerated inventory turned 146 times annually.
While Quintin was President of Turkey Hill a number of marketing and product initiatives were
launched. Cobranding with profession sports teams: NY Yankees, Phillies, Eagles, Steelers,
Bills, and the Jets brought consumer recognition and strong brand affinity to Turkey Hill
products as well as sales of these products in stadium venues. Broadcast media, social media and
consumer promotional events that personally touched 100’s of thousands of consumers annually
resulted in a dynamic interactive consumer relationship that created resilient brand loyalty.
New products included light ice cream, frozen yogurt, all natural ice cream and numerous unique
flavors of teas, fruit drinks and ice cream flavors. The result is a brand reputation that makes
Turkey Hill the name to go to for the best tasting and emerging flavor trends.
Additionally, the Turkey Hill Experience was opened in the town of Columbia Pa, a few miles
from Turkey Hill as a place where consumers could interact directly any day of the year with
Turkey Hill associates and Turkey Hill products. This is a paid interactive educational and
entertaining experience that allows consumers to both make their own TV commercial and the
own ice cream flavor. Over 125,000 people visit the Center each year.
Quintin recently retired from Turkey Hill after 33 years and works part time as the Brand
Ambassador representing the company at various trade events and with customers. He frequently
presents at business conferences, historic societies and charitable organization events.
