8. FTTH status and prospects in the Arab
World
• Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is still in its early
stages in the Arab World.
• Thirteen Arab countries have ongoing FTTH
projects.
• UAE, Qatar and Saudi lead the way. UAE with
almost universal coverage by end of 2011.
• In Qatar, Qtel invested heavily in rolling FTTH
(US$ 165 million)
