This way of presenting history is quite a valuable way to present key historical people, places and events to diverse groups of people.
A walking tour is different in that the narrative is tied to the route – which can be challenging! But it can be one of the most enjoyable part of the process of designing a tour.
They create interest and excitement because you are interacting with participants who may have lived in the area or participated in the history and development.
Since information is communicated orally and visually historical tours can interest people who typically don’t engage with historical knowledge.
It is an opportunity to present knowledge in a unique form.
Why guided and not just self guided or plaques?
We did not have any plaques or plans for any and guided gives us the opportunity to interact with participants face to face.

There are many ways of doing comparative analysis. I use paper photo sheets with the appropriate photos on them. They can be kept or handed back at the end of the tour
