Internet Marketing can be a great way for the average person to make a very nice income. One of the most popular ways is to become a member of an income generation program. One must be discerning, however, if this approach is followed. This document will discuss some criteria that should be followed when choosing a program and will suggest an alternative to the traditional "program" model.
Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well
Internet marketing 8 criteria for success
1. Internet Marketing - 8 Criteria For
Success
As we all know, new “glittery”
programs are popping up all over the
Internet. All of them are promising you
huge incomes. Obviously, the majority
of them are schemes and many are
outright scams. If you’re looking for a
program, how do you decide what
might be alright and what you should
leave alone?
Here are the criteria I follow when I’m
considering a new program.
1) The person or people behind
the program. Are they well
known and respected Internet
Marketers? Can you even find
out who they are? If the first
condition is met, you can feel
somewhat comfortable. If you
can’t find out who is behind the
program – RUN!
2) Do your due diligence! Do a
WHOIS on the company website.
This can give you information
you vitally need. First, it can
answer the question above.
Secondly, if a WHOIS reveals
that the program has switched
domains and/or ISPs repeatedly –
RUN!
3) Is there an actual product? The
money has to come from
somewhere. If there is no
product, the “program” is a form
of Ponzi scheme and is going to
collapse under its own weight.

2. All commissions paid are going
to come from dues paid by new
members. This is a totally
unsustainable model as is the
investment scheme for which it’s
named(which is illegal, by the
way).
4) If there is a product, what is it
and is it any good? The product
can take more than one form. It
may be a physical product such
as vitamins, etc. that members
are required to purchase monthly,
out of which commissions are
paid. It’s a little difficult to get
people to commit to a monthly
purchase unless the product is
good and is something they
would probably purchase
anyway. If these two conditions
aren’t met, your recruits are more
than likely going to drop out and
you aren’t going to make any
money. The product could also
take the form of marketing tools,
training, etc. and the members
pay monthly dues to be able to
access and have the use of the
products. This also is a
sustainable model but the same
caveats apply. Are the products
good or are they rehashed half
baked crap that people are not
going to be willing to pay for.
Again, if the product isn’t good
your recruits are going to drop
out and you aren’t going to make
any money.
5) What is the business structure
and commission model? If you

3. can’t understand the business
structure and commission model,
odds are 99 out 100 that it’s a
scheme that is meant to make
money for its creators and will
fold in two or three months
leaving you poorer while the
creators laugh all the way to the
bank and cook up their next
scheme.
6) If the business structure is a
pyramidal model is it limited
or open ended? If it’s
completely open ended, it’s a
pyramid scheme. Stay away! It’s
illegal and is only meant to make
the creators of the scheme any
money. If it’s a closed matrix say
a 2X5 or something, take a good
hard look. If it’s something like 5
wide and 15 levels deep and you
have to have a full matrix to
make any money, you’re never
going to accomplish it even if
spillover is part of the model.
You’d have to have 50 or 60
THOUSAND people in your
“organization”. That’s going to
take years to build. It probably
will never happen anyway
because most people don’t have
the recruiting skills or the
motivation and perseverance to
make it happen. If all the people
in your downline aren’t
promoting, you’ll never get your
organization built. And, trust me,
they won’t. 95% of the people
you recruit are going to sit on
their butts and wait on spillover.

4. If it’s something like a 2X5,
you’ve got a good chance at
making it work.
There are two more things that you
must have:
1) A mailing list You must have a
list of your own that you can
build a relationship with and
market to at will. Don’t count list
building programs to do this for
you. In a list building program
you are really building a
downline, not a mailing list.
Your so called list belongs to the
program, not you. If you leave
the program you lose it.
2) Effective Targeted Advertising
If you don’t have effective,
targeted advertising, everything
else is useless.
In all honesty, basing your Internet
Marketing business on a single program
is likely going to be doomed to failure.
Most programs, even those backed by
good products, fizzle out within five
months. The creators of programs know
this will happen and always have
another one waiting for the time that
the current one begins slowing down. If
you’ve been in Internet Marketing for
any length of time, you’ve seen this
happen again and again.
What you really need is an income
strategy based on leveraging the
affiliate programs of products that not
