11. NEP 2020:âNew Pedagogical and curricular
structure
ïThe 10+2 structure in school education will be
modified with a new pedagogical and curricular
restructuring of 5+3+3+4 covering ages 3-18.
ïCurrently, children in the age group of 3-6 are not
covered in the 10+2 structure as Class 1 begins at age
6.
ïIn the new 5+3+3+4 structure, a strong base of Early
Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) from age 3 is
also included.

13. Foundational Literacy and Numeracy: An
Urgent & Necessary Prerequisite to
Learning
ï The highest priority of the education system will
be to achieve universal foundational literacy
and numeracy in primary school by 2025.
ï National Mission on Foundational Literacy
and Numeracy will be set up by the Ministry of
Human Resource Development (MHRD)
on priority.

14. NEP 2020:âPreparatory class Balavatika for children
below the age of 5
Prior to the age of 5 every child will move to a
âPreparatory Classâ or âBalavatikaâ (that is, before Class
1), which has an ECCE-qualified teacher.
NEP 2020:âEarly childhood care and education
curriculum (ECCEC) to be carried out by MHRD,
WCD, HFW, tribalâaffairs
The planning and implementation of early childhood
care and education curriculum (ECCEC) will be carried
out jointly by the Ministries of HRD, Women and Child
Development (WCD), Health and Family Welfare (HFW),
and Tribal Affairs.

15. NEP 2020:âExperiential learning in all stages
ï¶Experiential learning will include hands-on learning,
arts-integrated and sports-integrated education, story-
telling-based pedagogy, among others, as standard
pedagogy.
ï¶Classroom transactions will shift towards competency-
based learning and education.
NEP 2020: Content will focus on idea, application,
problem- solving
ï¶The mandated content will focus on key concepts,
ideas, applications, and problem-solving.
ï¶Teaching and learning will be conducted in a more
interactive manner.

16. NEP 2020:âNo hard separation of streams for
students
ïStudents will be given increased flexibility and choice of
subjects to study, particularly in secondary school -
including subjects in physical education, the arts and
crafts, and vocational skills
ïThere will be no hard separation among âcurricularâ,
âextracurricularâ, or âco-curricularâ, among âartsâ,
âhumanitiesâ, and âsciencesâ, or between âvocationalâ or
âacademicâ streams.
Subjects such as physical education, the arts and crafts,
and vocational skills, in addition to science, humanities,
and mathematics, will be incorporated throughout the
school curriculum.
ïEach of the four stages of school education, may
consider moving towards a semester or any other system
that allows the inclusion of shorter modules.

17. NEP 2020:âNutrition and health cards, regular
health check-ups for school students
The nutrition and health (including mental
health) of children will be addressed, through
healthy meals and regular health check-ups, and
health cards will be issued to monitor the
students.

NEP 2020: Three language learned by
children will be the choice of state, regions
and students
The three-language learned by children will be
the choices of States, regions, and of the
students, so long as at least two of the three
languages are native to India.
18. NEPâ2020:âBag- less days encouraged
Bagless days will be encouraged throughout the year
for various types of enrichment activities involving
arts, quizzes, sports, and vocational crafts.

NEPâ2020:âMedium of instruction will be the local/
regional language
Wherever possible, the medium of instruction until at
least Grade 5, but preferably till Grade 8 and beyond,
will be the home language/mother tongue/local
language/regional language.
19. New Education Policy 2020:âCurriculum content to be
reduced
ïŒCurriculum content will be reduced in each subject to its
core essentials.
ïŒIt will make space for critical thinking and more holistic,
inquiry-based, discovery-based, discussion-based, and
analysis-based learning.
NEP 2020:âNIOS, open schools to offer courses for
grades 3,5 and 8
ïŒNIOS and State Open Schools will also offer A, B and C
levels that are equivalent to Grades 3, 5, and 8 of the
formal school system.
ïŒSecondary education programs that are equivalent to
Grades 10 and 12.
ïŒVocational education courses/programs, adult literacy
and life-enrichment programs.

20. NEP 2020: Importance of board exam to be
reduced, exam can be conducted twice a year
ïIn order to reduce the importance and stress of
board exam, exam will be conducted in two
parts:âObjective and descriptive.
ïExam can be conducted twice a year.
ï Board exam should promote knowledge
application rather than rote learning
NEPâ2020:â360 degree holistic report card for
students
Students will get 360 degree holistic report card,
which will not only inform about the marks obtained
by them in subjects, but also their skills and other
important points.

21. NEP 2020: National Curricular and
pedagogical framework to be developed by
NCERT
A National Curricular and Pedagogical
Framework for Early Childhood Care and
Education (NCPFECCE) for children up to the
age of 8 will be developed by NCERT.
NEP 2020: Coding to be taught from class 6
onwards
Students of class 6 and onwards will be taught
coding in schools as a part of 21st century skills

22. NEP 2020: Various new provisions for children with
disabilities
ïChildren with disabilities will be enabled to fully
participate in the regular schooling process from the
foundational stage to higher education,
ïwith support of educators with cross disability training,
resource centres, accommodations, assistive devices,
appropriate technology-based tools and other support
mechanisms tailored to suit their needs.
ï Every state/district will be encouraged to establish âBal
Bhavansâ as a special daytime boarding school, to
participate in art-related, career-related, and play-related
activities.
ï Free school infrastructure can be used as Samajik
Chetna Kendras.

ïAims at 50% gross enrolment ratio by 2035.
ïThere will be multiple entry and exit options for those
who wish to leave the course in the middle.
ïTheir credits will be transferred through Academic Bank
of Credits.
27. NEP 2020: NTA to offer common entrance exam
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will offer a high-
quality common aptitude test, as well as specialized
common subject exams in the sciences, humanities,
languages, arts, and vocational subjects, at least twice
every year for university entrance exams.

NEPâ2020: National Committee for integration of
vocation Education -Lok Vidya
Lok Vidyaâ, i.e., important vocational knowledge
developed in India, will be made accessible to students.
The education ministry, would constitute a National
Committee for the Integration of Vocational Education
(NCIVE).
28. NEPâ2020:âMinimum qualification for teaching - 4 year
integrated B.Ed degree
ïA new and comprehensive National Curriculum
Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE 2021) will
be formulated by the NCTE in consultation with NCERT.
ïBy 2030, the minimum degree qualification for teaching
will be a 4-year integrated B.Ed. degree .
ïStringent action will be taken against substandard
stand-alone Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs).

ïHigher Education Commission of India(HECI) will be set

established
ïA NationalâResearch Foundation (NRF) will be
established.
ïThe overarching goal of the NRF will be to enable a

learning.
ïA dedicated unit for the purpose of orchestrating the
building of digital infrastructure, digital content and

online education consequent to the recent rise in
