pupils discuss waht the words mean to help you judge which words to
teach and which of the following activities to use.
Activity : 2. For poor pupils
Be sure pupils know words orally before they are asked to decode
them in print. To familiarize pupils with the words orally.
Talk about each word or have pupils pantomime it, use real object
in the class-room (or pictures)
Activity : 3. Context sentences or glossaries
Read each sentence aloud, leaving a blank for the underlined word.
Have pupils supply words that meaningfully complete the sentences.

record pupils answers on the web like the following :
19. Read the news about Borneo.
Want an adventure? Spend ten days in Borneo.
Getting There
Fly from Bangkok to Jakata, and then to kuching in Borneo. After
two days in kuching, we take you on a trip you'll never forget-up the
river in a long-boat to visit an Iban village.
What You'll Do
Friendly Iban people in traditional clothes will show you to their
lifestyle.
They invite you to join their traditional dances and to visit the
farms where they work. You'll also go on a trek into the jungle, to see
orange-utans and crocodiles.
What You'll See
You'll see the amazing Iban long-house. A long house is like a
street of seperate apartments, all under one roof. Sometime 30 families
live together, perhaps 150 or more people in one big house. The long
houses are built on wooden poles about three metres high-this keeps
out water when there are floods (and wild animals, too!) Most visitors
stay in the long houses.

Hi Somsak
Well, I'm back! I had great time in Borneo - really fascinating.
Kuching was interesting, I don't think we spent enough time there.
When we left to go on the river, there were too many people for the
long boat, so we travelled to the village in a bus. The village was
fascinating. I love the longhouses, but there weren't enough rooms for
all of us to sleep there, so we had to sleep in tents. The first night was
great, but I ate too much delicious Iban food, and so I felt ill the next
morning! The second night wasn't as good because there wasn't enough
good for everyone. After that there was a jungle trek-lots of interesing
things there, but not enough time to see everything. Anyway, I'll see
you next weekend and show you all my photos. See you then!
Pornsiri.

grandmother has raised fish and grew lotus in the ponds and grew
some plants around the pond edges. The second part was used to grow
garden crops and trees. The last part was used for building houses and
a plant nursery as well as growing vegetables, and raising animals.
Pornsiri asked her grandmother why we didn't have the rice farm
as His Majesty the King's New Theory. Her grandma said we could not
work in the rice field by ourselves. But we could grow many kinds of
plants in our farm. Now there are mango, jackfruit, orange trees and
many other kinds of fruits, trees and plants. We can have many kinds
of fruits all year long. We have very sweet bananas and jackfruits all
year long and many kinds of mangoes, sweet and sour. The sour and
small mangoes, we can cook Thai-Salad, very delicious. Every one like

There are some flowers around the houses. Many kinds of flow-
ers, most of them are Thai flowers. They are very good smell,
especially in the early morning and in the evening or at night.
Sometime, my grandmother grew them in the nursery near the houses
and gave them to the schools. Especially the flower is called Puang Kaew.
In the garden, there are plenty of white flowers, They are called
Kaew and Puang Kaew so, our garden is called Suan Kaew. "Suan",
it means garden and "Kaew" is the name of flowers or my grandma's
name!
We have planted various kinds of crops, on the land such as
parennial trees (pine-tree and teak), fruit trees, field crops, and garden
crops. It also developed a medicinal plant garden and an aromatic
plant garden as well as carried out fish and animals raising. All
accomplishments undertaken on the land stressed on improving the
quality of the soil, and experimenting on cultivation of various kinds
of plants such as "Ma family" plants, medicinal or herbal plants,
highland orchard plants, jasmines, and aromatic plants. There are also
experiments on planting of trees on embankments at different levels
as well as growing of grass to prevent soil and to conserve soil and
water.

At first we plants herbal plants for cooking Tom-Yum and Kaeng
Luang (Thai soup and curry). But now we can use herbal plants for
Thai medical treatment and for good health, too. The herbal plants can
grow under the big trees and fruit-trees. So we can plant them around
the garden, and we can have the home spa.
Now my grandma has a new house made of pine wood from our
garden, inside the house we have some furniture made of pine-wood,
too. But we should protect it from the white ants. If we have Thai
cocks and hens in the farm, it is better to protect it, because they like
to eat white ants.
We have coconut trees, We have a lot of coconut-milk and we
have coconut-oil from coconut milk. So we can have the spa oil with
coconut milk and herbal plants. It is very good smell and very good for
our skin. So we can save money for buying moisture cream for a
beautiful skin.
There are two big ponds near the houses and many small ditches
along the garden, we have about 2 rais for water ponds, 1 rai for house
hold, 1 rai for a street and 5 rais for the mixed garden.
Rangsit has many big canals, they are digged in the Rama V reign.
They are very useful for the farmers from that day until now. His
Majesty the King Royal granted the new large pond reservoir at Rangsit,
too. So the farmers can have the water for planting all year long, now.

For eighty years, we have the nature agriculture in our farm. It is
good for our health and environment. We never use DDT or any
poisoned spray for the trees, fruits and flowers. We use herbal plants
and the bio-fertilizer for trees and plants. So there are many birds and
many kinds of birds and plenty of red ants in our farm. The birds eat
insects to protect mangoes. Once a year we spray all over the garden
by the mixed water from the herbal plants. We can protect-fruits from
this way.
Sometimes many squirrels in different colours come to eat fruits.
So we have some fruits for them and we have some fruits for birds,
too. The black small fruits, the birds like best, "Lug War". It is very
delicious. They eat them, happily as we have the "Chinese party".
We like to look at the fish in the ponds. Many kinds of fishes, we
are very happy when we feed them. But we are unhappy if we must
eat them.
We have learned many things. We know more about the useful
and harmful insects. The useful insects are such as ground beetles rove
beetles, bugs, spiders, dragon flies and so on. These insects help to
eleminate pests. We learned that the use of chemicals does nothing
good.

idea of biological rice cultivation. This project allows us to learn about
the useful and harmful insects. Previously farmers cultivated rice with-
