2. What’s a
procedure?
• A sequential set of coherent instructions aiming
to achieve a goal or a task
• May consist of alternative paths to achieve
same task
• Includes conditional statements and constraints

3. Why is this important?
• Intelligent Trouble Shooting via Chatbot
• Help to Customer Service agents
• Frequently occurring issue tracking
• User feedback of the solutions

4. How do we get the data?
• Libre Help
• Ubuntu Help
• Data scraped from the lists in the webpages
• 70% - 80% of instructions or set of instructions are
introduced by typographic marks such as hyphens, bullets
and other numbering forms, line breaks.

7. What characterizes procedures?
• Instructions are usually imperative sentences
• Instructions have verbs in the form
• Infinitive
• Gerundive
• These clues are used to derive features

8. What are Imperatives?
• Sentences which convey an instruction, request or a
command
• Eg: Unplug the device.
• Starts with a verb most of the time
• Has no subject
• Implicit subject is always assumed to be ‘you’

10. What are Infinitives?
• Has the form to + base verb
• Acts as other parts of speech
• Eg: Tap the exercise you want to edit

12. What are Gerunds?
• A gerund is a verb in its ‘ing’ (present participle) form
• Functions as a noun
• Indicates an activity rather than a person or a thing
• Eg: Plug the charging cable into the USB port.
