Content Analysis
‘The Princess on the Road’ is an interesting one act play
written by ‘Kathleen Conyngham Greene’. It centers around a
princess who is ill-treated by the villagers when she sheds her royal
attire and appears dressed up as a peasant girl to exercise her royal
prerogatives. The author throws light on how women, especially if
they don’t have respectable positions are singled out by the society.

also writes the title “The princess on
the Road” and name of the author

The teacher leads the
students to the play
and introduces the
major characters to the

Micro Processing of the Input
Model reading by the teacher
The teacher now reads the
paragraphs of the play with proper
pronunciation, stress and intonation
and also describes the theme of the
play.

individually. Corrections are made
whenever necessary.

Teacher helps to clarify the difficult areas which

predict, establish and build up thoughts.

The adventurous journey of the princess
in ‘ The princess on the road comes to an
end in a beautiful village street. Prepare a
short description of the street.
Review
The Princess decided to do something
adventurous. She is dressed up as a
peasant girl. She is picking flowers when
she goes. She has travelled twelve miles
and reached a small village. There she faces
many difficulties
Prepare a short description of a place you have
visited during the summer vocation or during
your study tour.

  • 3. Content Analysis ‘The Princess on the Road’ is an interesting one act play written by ‘Kathleen Conyngham Greene’. It centers around a princess who is ill-treated by the villagers when she sheds her royal attire and appears dressed up as a peasant girl to exercise her royal prerogatives. The author throws light on how women, especially if they don’t have respectable positions are singled out by the society. 3

  • 23. 23 Language Activity The adventurous journey of the princess in ‘ The princess on the road comes to an end in a beautiful village street. Prepare a short description of the street. Review The Princess decided to do something adventurous. She is dressed up as a peasant girl. She is picking flowers when she goes. She has travelled twelve miles and reached a small village. There she faces many difficulties
