INTRODUCTION
The name PURE is an abbreviation for Progressing
Under Recession Education.
This society was founded on 27th of February, 2010.
It was formed by students of the University of
Namibia during the 2010 recession period.
The past recession period had been an eye opener
for us as students, in that we faced many academic
and financial challenges to name but a few, even so
we had to find solutions to our problems, and as we
pondered on it, we found that the best solution was
to put all our efforts together and most certainly
with this effort we would create some kind of
positive change, thus our movement began to
change the impaired judgment we had developed
during our hardships.
The remedy to our solution was to educate
ourselves and others on how best to strive through
our individual recession’s or difficulties (school
work, health, sports, careers etc.) a journey towards
self-actualization so to say, we stood our ground
and the PURE Society was born, with a vision to
help build community spirit among young people
and offer an environment of support that leads to
success.
We strive to empower and educate the youth
through diverse interaction of education, business,
sports, arts and culture.
We Educate, Mentor
& Inspire Future
Leaders.

HOME
The rewards of being part of the PURE Society are
significant. There has never been a better time to invest
in youth empowerment, we are tomorrow’s leaders and if
appropriate opportunities are made available to put our
natural endowment to creative and productive channels,
we are indeed capable of working wonders”.
Today it is globally realized that the youth will lead
nations and bring about prosperity for next generations.
Now our focus as a youth empowerment society is to
present opportunities for youth by investing heavily in
education, sports, cultural heritage, skills development
and leadership education. Therefore we can say that
youth empowerment is integral for national development
especially for us as a developing country where youth
constitute majority of overall population. If we focus on
youth development and empowerment it will lead us
towards long term prosperity. It has been observed that
those countries who invest heavily in their youth get
high returns on their investment in every sector.
We refer to Southern African Developing Countries, such
as ours, with a large population that can be categorized
as falling within the UN’s definition of youth. We then as
a youth empowerment society are trying to diversify the
scope of youth empowerment, because it is a vital aspect
in economic development, as the youth are the future
and therefore are nation builders. Since 2010, we as a
society have made extensive efforts to promote youth
empowerment. We have undertaken various youth
oriented initiatives to empower the youth and impact
their lives positively.
“YouthEmpowerment isan attitudinal,structural,andcultural
process whereby youngpeople gainthe ability,authority,and
agency to make decisionsandimplementchange intheir own
livesand the lives ofother people,includingyouthandadults”.

The task of empowerment is a very challenging one, thus we
have divided ours into phases.
Firstly, every individual can contribute towards our
empowerment programs according to his or her capabilities.
And secondly, all our members should be made to understand a
specific project, its importance to the society and community at
large. They should be given a suitable direction so as to work
hard for our visions fulfillment.
The youth are full of vast and untapped energy it is there for
imperative that our country must see that its youth power is
properly utilized. It is our duty as a society to see that the youth
is not corrupted by any corrupt vices. Our society should make
efforts to free our schools and universities from the bane of
dormant thinking and time wasting. When in schools and
universities, the youth should be kept busy with academic
courses and sports. When they are free, they should be engaged
in fruitful activities. Only then can we use the youth power for
the task of nation building.
Some benefits of youth empowerment:
· Healthy Nation
· Empowered and Skilled Youth
· Prosperity among young people
· Innovation
· Entrepreneurship
· Internal Harmony and Peace
· Employment
· National Development
· Transparent Social and Political systems
· Educated Public
· Social and Economic Development
· Less dependability on Government by youth communities
· Voice on youth issues effectively
· Resolve youth issues and advocate them at local and
international level

completed. Standing Committees are included in the Society Constitution.
Committees recommend policy for approval by the entire National Executive Committee

METHODOLOGY
The methodology used is aimed at promoting youth empowerment, developmental
activities and further promote a culture of knowledge sharing in order to build young
leaders.
The aim is to basically synthesize an ever changing society in a positive direction so as to
have youth who are empowered, empower others.
TARGET
Our target is our nations’ new generation of youth, but we have the entire Southern
African Developing Countries’ (SADC) interest at heart, thus we shall be set up in
Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, with a vision to spread across Africa.
RELEVANCE
Qualitative research was conducte0d between the months of January and March 2010
among 500 youths in various institutions around Windhoek the capital of Namibia and
the capital of Zambia, Lusaka. Using open ended and direct questionnaires, results
indicated that 98% of respondents found that a society of this nature would be beneficial
to mostly the youth and modern society.
PROBLEM AND OPPORTUNITY
The problem we as youth are facing is lack of employment, limited access to knowledge,
resources and better career opportunities, lack of funds (disposable income) and
investment capital.
With our society’s school of thought, our stance is to develop young leaders who will be
motivated and dedicated to achieve goals through our objectives and fulfil the vision of
helping build community spirit amongst the youth and further creating an environment
of support that will lead us to success.
We further undertake to be the best contributing individuals of our mother Nations, as
we believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

LOCATION
Our Society was registered in Zambia on the 6th of May 2015, and we are now in the
process of acquiring a Society house for our SADC Youth Empowerment Programs
(SYEP), our vision is to quickly expand these projects to as many major towns and other
provinces with time and growth.
P.U.R.E Society Founder and President, Pondani Edward Mwale.
PARTNERSHIP
Our aim is to partner with those whose vision and heart is synonymous to ours so that
together we can make a great positive impact in the lives of people and in turn develop
our society, even so we shall be linked to four SADC Universities as we expand our
Academic Affairs programs.
i. University of Zambia
ii. University of Namibia
iii. University of Botswana and,
iv. University of South Africa
We shall further establish our society as Pure Youth student clubs in high schools, this
will better aid our mentorship and career guidance programs for students and help them
transition in to positive contributing citizens.

FINANCIAL RESOURCE
The society is currently running on petty cash raised through small fund raisers which
barely support our projected year plans.
Our extra finances were raised by dedicated and motivate founder members of the society
through an initiative called the Pure Investment Group (P.I.G), but now we deem it fit to
seek sponsorship from credible organizations and well-wishers to facilitate our youth
empowerment projects and expansion.
Our bankers are First National Bank (FNB).
BENEFICIARY
The beneficiaries of all PURE Society activities and projects will be our registered
members, the youth, and the people of Zambia at large. We shall target youth in various
residential, rural and urban areas across all communities of the country.

BRIEF TIME LINE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The 27th
of February 2010 was the Launch and registration of
the Pure Society at the University of Namibia as a student club.
2010 was the beginning of our youth empowerment journey,
that has got us this far, and we are dedicated to contribute to
Nation building through active youth empowerment using
Business,Education, Sports, Diverse Art, and Culture.
P a g e | 14
puresocietyinfo@gmail.com|
The Pure Society was then further registered with the
Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture in
Namibia on the 11th
of June 2012.

puresocietyinfo@gmail.com|
Raise the Heat Fundraiser
The purpose for this event was to raise funds for a Christian Non-Governmental Organization
called Mama Anna Foundation (MAF), which we worked with.
MAF was born from a desire to contribute to a national caring and supportive environment for
orphans, vulnerable children and women affected or infected by HIV/AIDS regardless of their
background. The foundation helps them to achieve their education, creates sustainable
developmental programs which create employment opportunities for them so that they may
create resilience and cope with the challenges ahead and be integrated in the society without
being exploited due to their situation.

Website Launch
We also launched the society’s temporarily website, which is a social network that allows
us to interact, communicate our upcoming events and for members to suggest ways on
improving our wellbeing as an empowerment society. The website is
www.thepuresociety.webs.com. This being a temporary registration ‘webs’ site we are
setting up our official website for the PURE Society Zambia, to enable us operate
effectively.

THE ONE-UP PROGRAM
We held an event at Lake Oanab Resort. We took a number of our new and old members
and had time to interact with them not only through empowerment talks, but also
through various activities such as water sports. And we also had time to share some
beverages coupled with a braai, while we were provided an opportunity to introduce the
society and tell them what it is about and our agenda for an initiative called the ‘ONE-UP
PROGRAM. Seeing that we are a youth empowering society our aim was to gain more
recognition amongst our peers and admit them as members of the society so as to work
hand in hand, response from the youth that we took after the trip was rewarding. We
intend to accomplish many more activities such as these with your help.
P a g e | 18
puresocietyinfo@gmail.com|
THE ‘COLOUR OF CULTURE’ EVENT
This was an event held by the Pure Society as an initiative to create a platform for
different people with diverse cultural heritage to show case their talents, culture’s and
many other culturally rooted and related acts.
This exposed not only the youths’ talent but also acted as an educational expo that
helped the youth get better knowledge of different ethnic ideals, norms, principles etc.

THE STAY ACTIVE PROGRAM (SAP)
The society also hosted some sporting games in football and basketball with the society
basketball team ‘THE DREAM TEAM’ and foot ball team ‘PURE SOCIETY FOOTBALL
CLUB’ (PSFC).
The Pure Society Stay -Active Program (SAP) was initiated following the identification of
major problems found in youth empowerment in connection to sports. The objectives of
the project are to:
1. Help the mitigation and reduction of alcohol abuse and its relation to HIV and Aids
amongst the youth by encouraging extracurricular activities.
2. Get more parents and individuals in our communities involved in the promotion and
elevation of adequate sport and recreation programs for the youth.
3. Encourage the development of skill and talent that lead to self-reliance in various
sectors such as education, creative arts, career development etc.
4. To increase youth accessibility to sport and recreational facilities.
5. The overall objective is to use sport and recreation as a tool to uplift the youths’ sprit,
social standards and impact their mind set, with a school of thought that will help them
make positive judgments when it comes to real life situations. Through this process we
shall give adequate information on the dangers of alcohol, drug abuse and there relations
to HIV and Aids.

  • 3. P a g e | 3 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| INTRODUCTION The name PURE is an abbreviation for Progressing Under Recession Education. This society was founded on 27th of February, 2010. It was formed by students of the University of Namibia during the 2010 recession period. The past recession period had been an eye opener for us as students, in that we faced many academic and financial challenges to name but a few, even so we had to find solutions to our problems, and as we pondered on it, we found that the best solution was to put all our efforts together and most certainly with this effort we would create some kind of positive change, thus our movement began to change the impaired judgment we had developed during our hardships. The remedy to our solution was to educate ourselves and others on how best to strive through our individual recession’s or difficulties (school work, health, sports, careers etc.) a journey towards self-actualization so to say, we stood our ground and the PURE Society was born, with a vision to help build community spirit among young people and offer an environment of support that leads to success. We strive to empower and educate the youth through diverse interaction of education, business, sports, arts and culture. We Educate, Mentor & Inspire Future Leaders.
  • 4. P a g e | 4 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| HOME The rewards of being part of the PURE Society are significant. There has never been a better time to invest in youth empowerment, we are tomorrow’s leaders and if appropriate opportunities are made available to put our natural endowment to creative and productive channels, we are indeed capable of working wonders”. Today it is globally realized that the youth will lead nations and bring about prosperity for next generations. Now our focus as a youth empowerment society is to present opportunities for youth by investing heavily in education, sports, cultural heritage, skills development and leadership education. Therefore we can say that youth empowerment is integral for national development especially for us as a developing country where youth constitute majority of overall population. If we focus on youth development and empowerment it will lead us towards long term prosperity. It has been observed that those countries who invest heavily in their youth get high returns on their investment in every sector. We refer to Southern African Developing Countries, such as ours, with a large population that can be categorized as falling within the UN’s definition of youth. We then as a youth empowerment society are trying to diversify the scope of youth empowerment, because it is a vital aspect in economic development, as the youth are the future and therefore are nation builders. Since 2010, we as a society have made extensive efforts to promote youth empowerment. We have undertaken various youth oriented initiatives to empower the youth and impact their lives positively. “YouthEmpowerment isan attitudinal, structural, andcultural process whereby youngpeople gainthe ability, authority, and agency to make decisionsandimplementchange intheir own livesand the lives ofother people, includingyouthandadults”. • 5. P a g e | 5 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| The task of empowerment is a very challenging one, thus we have divided ours into phases. Firstly, every individual can contribute towards our empowerment programs according to his or her capabilities. And secondly, all our members should be made to understand a specific project, its importance to the society and community at large. They should be given a suitable direction so as to work hard for our visions fulfillment. The youth are full of vast and untapped energy it is there for imperative that our country must see that its youth power is properly utilized. It is our duty as a society to see that the youth is not corrupted by any corrupt vices. Our society should make efforts to free our schools and universities from the bane of dormant thinking and time wasting. When in schools and universities, the youth should be kept busy with academic courses and sports. When they are free, they should be engaged in fruitful activities. Only then can we use the youth power for the task of nation building. Some benefits of youth empowerment: · Healthy Nation · Empowered and Skilled Youth · Prosperity among young people · Innovation · Entrepreneurship · Internal Harmony and Peace · Employment · National Development · Transparent Social and Political systems · Educated Public · Social and Economic Development · Less dependability on Government by youth communities · Voice on youth issues effectively · Resolve youth issues and advocate them at local and international level PURE SOCIETY ON CULTURE PURE SOCIETY ON FILEDTRIPS PURE SOCIETY ON WATER SPORT

  • 10. P a g e | 10 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| METHODOLOGY The methodology used is aimed at promoting youth empowerment, developmental activities and further promote a culture of knowledge sharing in order to build young leaders. The aim is to basically synthesize an ever changing society in a positive direction so as to have youth who are empowered, empower others. TARGET Our target is our nations’ new generation of youth, but we have the entire Southern African Developing Countries’ (SADC) interest at heart, thus we shall be set up in Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, with a vision to spread across Africa. RELEVANCE Qualitative research was conducte0d between the months of January and March 2010 among 500 youths in various institutions around Windhoek the capital of Namibia and the capital of Zambia, Lusaka. Using open ended and direct questionnaires, results indicated that 98% of respondents found that a society of this nature would be beneficial to mostly the youth and modern society. PROBLEM AND OPPORTUNITY The problem we as youth are facing is lack of employment, limited access to knowledge, resources and better career opportunities, lack of funds (disposable income) and investment capital. With our society’s school of thought, our stance is to develop young leaders who will be motivated and dedicated to achieve goals through our objectives and fulfil the vision of helping build community spirit amongst the youth and further creating an environment of support that will lead us to success. We further undertake to be the best contributing individuals of our mother Nations, as we believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

  • 12. P a g e | 12 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| FINANCIAL RESOURCE The society is currently running on petty cash raised through small fund raisers which barely support our projected year plans. Our extra finances were raised by dedicated and motivate founder members of the society through an initiative called the Pure Investment Group (P.I.G), but now we deem it fit to seek sponsorship from credible organizations and well-wishers to facilitate our youth empowerment projects and expansion. Our bankers are First National Bank (FNB). BENEFICIARY The beneficiaries of all PURE Society activities and projects will be our registered members, the youth, and the people of Zambia at large. We shall target youth in various residential, rural and urban areas across all communities of the country. The Pure Society Outreach Team with less privileged youth of Lusaka.

P a g e | 15 puresocietyinfo@gmail.com| Raise the Heat Fundraiser The purpose for this event was to raise funds for a Christian Non-Governmental Organization called Mama Anna Foundation (MAF), which we worked with. MAF was born from a desire to contribute to a national caring and supportive environment for orphans, vulnerable children and women affected or infected by HIV/AIDS regardless of their background. The foundation helps them to achieve their education, creates sustainable developmental programs which create employment opportunities for them so that they may create resilience and cope with the challenges ahead and be integrated in the society without being exploited due to their situation.
