1. Initial Ideas For Horror Movie
Openings
By Polly Pritchard and Jessica Farey
2. Premise
A group of teenagers visit a bunker from
the Second World War, the scene of the
murder of a brother and sister years ago.
3. Plot
• In 1941, a brother and sister are fleeing to an air
raid shelter in the midst of a bombing of their
town. When they reach their supposed safety, they
are attacked in the closed space by an unknown
being. All the audience sees is their blood it the
walls in their implied death.
• 73 years later in 2014, a group of teenagers think
it will be fun to investigate the “haunted” bunker.
They are also killed, mirroring the deaths in the
previous scene.
• The two stories will be told in split scenes so the
audience do not know what is coming as the 1941
scene first would foreshadow this. We feel this
way the suspense is heightened.
4. Characters
• A brother and sister (circa 1941), ages 14 and 17
• A group of teenagers around 16 years old- two girls
and two boys representative of both genders. Try and
represent the stereotypical teenagers of today to make
them more relatable
6. Costume- Present
• Boy 1- Jeans, hoodie, trainers, t-shirt with modern
brand on it.
• Boy 2- Shirt, Cardigan, trousers and lace ups.
• Girl 1- Jeans, T-shirt, waterproof, hiking boots, and
Backpack.
• Girl 2- More fashionable t-shirt, jeans, boots
7. Music/Sound Effects
• We will find non copyrighted music, and hope
for something fairly slow in a minor key. We
would preferably like jazz instruments playing
something to fit in with the aesthetics of the
1940s storyline.
• We would like to use sound effects to heighten
the effects and realism of what is happening on
screen. This includes an air raid siren at the
beginning and blood splatters.
• We are considering using a voiceover
8. Locations
• We have permission to film in the cold war
bunker in Ashwell and the land around it. We
plan to use this, and if it is not effective
enough we can use Weston Woods or Ivel
Springs locally.
10. Props
• 1940s- Relabelled cans, traditional bedding, a sheet to
cover modern technology
• Present Day- sleeping bags, junk food and drink,
smart phones
11. Conventions Adhered
• Haunting music
• Isolated setting
• Dark lighting
• Stereotypical characters (group of teenagers)
• Flashback sequence
• USP- the wartime narrative and aesthetic
