Word Order in Questions
1. WordOrderinQuestions
In questions you usually have to put the auxiliary verb
(or the main verb “be”) before the subject. Question
words are put at the beginning of the sentences.
Question word – auxiliary – subject – main verb – object
When did you have a party?
You don’t use an auxiliary verb if you ask for the subject.
In this case the question word simply takes the place
of the subject.
E.g. Who asked you? What happened? – subject questions
In case there is a preposition following a verb, don’t start
your question with it.
E.g. Where are you from? not From where are you?
Who did he go with? not With who did he go?
