Assignment 1 – Case Study Web 2.0 Tools
The Sven Callaway Show (Good Example) Pro’s It allows the students to view the different points of view from the different characters e.g. a doctor, a teenager and other significant individuals.  Having different points of view allows the students to view the issue as a ‘whole’ and therefore gaining a better understanding of the issue.
The information provided in the lesson includes hyper links to web pages that contain a more detailed explanation of the topic as well as statistics and fact sheets to enhance the students understanding. The program incorporates group activities for the students to organise, apply, analyse, create or evaluate the new knowledge of the lesson as well as engage in group discussions.  Pro’s
Pro’s The information in the lesson allows the students to make real world connections between peer pressure and the risks of drug use. This was achieved through the use of stories, making the context more meaningful and relevant to the students.
Pro’s The activity modelled and explained what was required in the group activities as well as guided students in developing their responses so that there are well structured and demonstrate what the students have learnt.
The lesson left the group activities for the students to organise the division of labour. This leaves opportunities open for an unequal workload, where some students may be less involved in the activity. Con’s
Skeleton (Bad Example) Con’s The lesson lacks activities for the students to show their understanding of what is being taught. The lesson contains one activity that lacks the ability to engage students in metacognition or any form of higher order thinking for that matter.
Con’s The lesson doesn’t engage the students in problem solving, nor did it require the students to organise, apply, analyse, create or evaluate the new knowledge of the lesson. Instead it gives brief descriptions about the body parts, allowing students to get distracted or not absorb the information being taught.
Con’s The lesson gave the students little or no say in what the lesson was about or how it unfolded in the classroom. The lesson lacked opportunities for a class to engage in a discussion as well as failing to provide the students with a task to work towards.
Pro’s The lesson provided accurate descriptions of the body parts along with labelled diagrams to enhance the students understanding. The lesson included ‘motion’ images so the students could see a visual on how the different body parts move and interact differently.

The Sven Callaway Show (Good Example) Pro’s It allows the students to view the different points of view from the different characters e.g. a doctor, a teenager and other significant individuals. Having different points of view allows the students to view the issue as a ‘whole’ and therefore gaining a better understanding of the issue.
  • 3. The information provided in the lesson includes hyper links to web pages that contain a more detailed explanation of the topic as well as statistics and fact sheets to enhance the students understanding. The program incorporates group activities for the students to organise, apply, analyse, create or evaluate the new knowledge of the lesson as well as engage in group discussions. Pro’s
  • 4. Pro’s The information in the lesson allows the students to make real world connections between peer pressure and the risks of drug use. This was achieved through the use of stories, making the context more meaningful and relevant to the students.
  • 5. Pro’s The activity modelled and explained what was required in the group activities as well as guided students in developing their responses so that there are well structured and demonstrate what the students have learnt.
  • 6. The lesson left the group activities for the students to organise the division of labour. This leaves opportunities open for an unequal workload, where some students may be less involved in the activity. Con’s
  • 7. Skeleton (Bad Example) Con’s The lesson lacks activities for the students to show their understanding of what is being taught. The lesson contains one activity that lacks the ability to engage students in metacognition or any form of higher order thinking for that matter.
  • 8. Con’s The lesson doesn’t engage the students in problem solving, nor did it require the students to organise, apply, analyse, create or evaluate the new knowledge of the lesson. Instead it gives brief descriptions about the body parts, allowing students to get distracted or not absorb the information being taught.
  • 9. Con’s The lesson gave the students little or no say in what the lesson was about or how it unfolded in the classroom. The lesson lacked opportunities for a class to engage in a discussion as well as failing to provide the students with a task to work towards.
  • 10. Pro’s The lesson provided accurate descriptions of the body parts along with labelled diagrams to enhance the students understanding. The lesson included ‘motion’ images so the students could see a visual on how the different body parts move and interact differently.
