How to Render 3D Books Using Photoshop PSD and Actions

3. Notes before we begin:
* Make sure that you have Adobe
Photoshop installed in your
computer
** Open www.psdcovers.com in
your browser window

4. Search action in www.psd.com
[An "action" is a 'recording of steps
you do in Photoshop']

5. Search action in www.psd.com
(Example: book, hard cover)

6. Choose a PSD mock up
(Example: Hardcover012)

7. Download desired PSD mock up
(Take note of the design specifications)

8. Once download is complete, open file

9. Double­click 'PSDCover'

10. You will be directed to PhotoShop

11. Open your 2D book cover

12. Prepare template (Step 1)

13. Go to 2D book cover tab

14. Select 'Rectangular Marquee Tool',
drag to capture whole cover

15. Under 'Edit', choose 'Copy Merged'

16. Go to PSD cover tab

17. Under 'Edit', choose 'Free Transform'
(or press Ctrl + T) to drag

18. Make sure it fills the entire cover area.
Press Enter.
[To make instructions on PSD cover disappear, click
Move Tool (V) + Ctrl + Click + Delete]

19. In 2D Cover Tab select portion to fill
other parts of the book:
*hard cover of spine
*inside sleeve of back cover
*other visible parts

20. Fill the inside sleeve only if you will
render book from the back

21. Expand PSD cover panel and play
Step 2 (Add Color!)

22. Your design rendered in 3D

23. To make background transparent, go
to 'Layers'

24. Right­click 'Background' and delete
layer

25. Render the 'shadow' layer invisible

26. Save file for web

27. Change image size according to you
requirement
