.HVAC solutions Energy Efficiency is NOT an expense. It’s an Investment. Simply saving energy. every Day Save 20% to 30%
U.S. Department of Energy National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency http :// www.epa.gov/cleanenergy/energy-programs/suca/resources.html#incentives ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Action Plan Recommendations:
Air conditioning is one of the largest energy consumers in the residential and industrial sector. Thousands of Air Conditioners put high demands on the electricity networks. On a smaller scale, air conditioning probably accounts for a significant part of your energy bill and monthly operating expense. Many existing air conditioners use old and quite inefficient technology. Although improved technology has become available in more expensive systems (e.g. inverter technology), the ROI payback time of these systems is still very long.Instead of investing a lot of money into an expensive new system, there is an easy and affordable way to improve the energy efficiency of your unit… Your Existing Air Conditioning System has a Huge Potential for Energy Efficiency improvements
What is an pg.HVAC solution? ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],It is a retrofit product that adds intelligence to existing Air-Conditioning Systems, which saves KWh, extends compressor life and Reduces Operating EXPENSE20%-30%.
How does it Work? First we will see what the shortcomings are of a typical AC System Then let’s take a look at what a typical cooling cycle with excess capacity looks like Last, let’s find out how the AircoSaver compensates these shortcomings.
Package Units (RTU)Split SystemsPTACWindow UnitsWall Units The pgAircoSaver will work in all types of AC systems, typically up to 20 tons.

CEM , CEA , GBE Consulting Engineer Owner 3320 Chadwell Dallas , TX . 75234 214/532-1132 [email_address] .com Subject : Eng ineering Overview of the AircoSaver I have c o mpleted several analyses on the AircoSaver . Without exception, it has reduced the power (kW) draw and the energy (kWh) consumption of the air conditioning compressor it controls. It accomplishes this by two means: (1) When the air conditioner set temperature is reached, it turns "off" the compressor, reducing time the compressor would continue to run. This results in energy reduction. All studies have shown a reduction of greater than 23%, up to 35%. (2) It is during the latter portion of the compressor run cycle that the AircoSaver cuts "off" the compressor, which is the time of highest refrigerant temperatures and head pressures, the cause of high amp draw (highest power consumption). Optimizati o n of equipment run times is achieved through the use of Frequency counting and timing. The AircoSaver has no detrimental effect on the operation of the compressor, nor does it reduce the capacity of the air conditioning unit, or effect or change the conditioned air qualities of temperature and humidity. Less "run" time also lengthens the life of the air conditioning equipment . I am a licensed professional engineer (p.E.) in Texas with a BSME from Texas A&M University. I am a Certified Energy Auditor and Manager. I have 27 years of utility, gas and electric, energy experience (Lone Star Gas Co., TU Electric, Oncor Electric Distribution, TXU Gas) and 6 years as an independent energy company owner, having prepared hundreds of energy analyses. I am a past president of the North Texas Association of Energy Engineers, the North Texas Chapter of the Association of Facilities Engineering, and past board of director of TSPE-Da ll as. I have been a speaker at many energy conferences and seminars (local, national, & international) and am published in several energy conference proceedings and books. Jim Phillips, P.E . , CEM, CEA, GBE Date: 10 / 25 / 2010 Let’s take a look at what Engineers, San Diego Gas& Electric and ATT Mobility have experienced with the AircoSaver “Before and After” Test Results…
Trebor International Ltd 100-1295 Harrison Ave Windsor ON N9C 3J4313.427.1792 Office 226.280.1944 Cell [email_address] Willis H. Carrier (November 26, 1876 – October 7, 1950) was an American engineer, inventor, and is known as the man who invented modern air conditioning. Carrier's igloo in the 1939 New York World’s Fair gave visitors a glimpse into the future of air conditioning.. Before it became popular, near the end of the 30s, World War II began. During the post-war economic boom of the 1950s, air conditioning began its tremendous growth in popularity in both the Canada and the USA. The company (Carrier Equipment) pioneered the design and manufacture of refrigeration machines to cool large spaces. By increasing industrial production in the summer months, air conditioning revolutionized American life. Constant volume (CV) air conditioning performs four basic functions, control temperature, control humidity, control air circulation/ventilation and filter the air. Today the units are very similar to those introduced by Carrier. They are selected in the majority of applications because of the capital cost considerations for projects. The CVU/RTU (Constant Volume Units/Roof Top Unit) does not have a sophisticated control system and in common terms, it is on or off. In the typical application of CVU/RTU’s the compressor is the major consumer of energy in the thousands of Watts (kW). Utilities charge from the kW per hours (kWh) for electricity used. The CVU/RTU’s over extended run times wil l result in large numbers of kWh charges. I have witnessed meter readings before and after the installation of the AircoSaver and the completed empirical data analysis.. Of these applications, the AircoSaver showed reductions of 20 to 35% in consumption (kWh). Without exception the total energy consumption of the compressor has been reduced and by extension, the kWh will be reduced resulting in a reduction of utility charges. The AircoSaver controls the refrigerant compressor by two means; By monitoring the evaporator saturation point, the compressor will be turned “off”. The space that is being cooled will not experience any approachable effect. When the maximum evaporator saturation point has passed, the compressor will be turned “on” providing normal operations. It is the reduction of the compressor run time that will result in energy reduction, and a reduction of utility charges. The AircoSaver has no detrimental effect on: 1.) control temperature; 2.) control humidity; 3.) control air circulation and ventilation; 4.) cleanse the air 5) compressor life. The reduction of compressor “run” time is the major contributor to the reduction of energy consumption in the CVU. We have been encouraging our clients to consider the implementation of the AircoSaver .   I am a licensed professional engineer in Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan) and the United States (Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan). I have completed the design and construction projects in Europe, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada and the United States. My practice began in 1966 and still continues. Projects have included residential, multifamily dwellings, petro chemical, educational, health care, research, military, commercial, institutional, food /beverage, research and industrial facilities. Assignments have also included design, construction and facilities engineering. I have extensively lectured on the Community College and University levels. I have also published several articles on electrical design, and construction management for national publications. Trebor hopes that this letter will assist in your energy conservation endeavours, and reduce the amount of your electrical utility invoices in the future. Regards Rollie L. Robert, P.E. P.Eng. Calculation Methods At each site, air conditioner supply voltage was recorded. Air conditioner power was derived from the formula- (measured volts X measured amps X assumed power factor of .85) = power. Only one site, SD0364 was supplied with three phase power for air conditioners. The three phase power conversion factor of 1.732 was used to calculate power consumption at that site. Pre period average hourly power consumption was compared to post period average hourly power consumption and the result was annualized to determine annual energy savings. No air conditioner performance corrections were made for increased ambient (external) temperature. At eight of the nine sites average temperature during the post period was higher than during the baseline test period. An examination of compressor kW VS ambient temperature showed little difference. Project Results and Discussion Average hourly power savings was calculated for each site and extrapolated to annual energy savings. Overall air conditioning savings was 20% of baseline air conditioner energy consumption, and averaged 7071 kWh for the nine sites. Energy savings averaged 6.8% of site total energy consumption. The AircoSaver control system may be incentivized through the Standard Performance Contract Program at nine cents per annual kWh saved. The incentive is limited to ½ the installed cost, or the calculated incentive, whichever is less. At an average site electric cost of 14.4 cents/kWh Annual energy savings for installing the AircoSaver at each site is around $1,000 per year. • 7.

• 13. P.Eng. • 16.
