Agricultural Machinery: Reliability
 Global OEM first worked with our Reliability Processes in
1997 on a Tractor Program
 Now a standard methodology adopted on all Tractor and
Combine development programs
 Reliability as measured by MTBF improved by more than 50%
over the last known 2 year period (2005 -2007) for Tractors
and more than 70% for Combines:
 MTBF at Launch
 MTBF one year after Launch
Agricultural Machinery: Reliability
 Major International OEM began implementation in 2007 with
two Pilot Projects on Tractors and Balers
 i-nova supported implementation over a 3 year period which
included introducing a new client team to the methodology
 Standard practice in all new product development projects
 Reliability organization created
 Corporate decision taken to adopt the methodology
throughout the group
 The methodology was credited with raising awareness and
creating a culture of reliability
Agricultural Machinery: Skills Development
 After many years working with us to improve development
processes and project management a major Global OEM
wished to improve design skills and work on the people side
of product development
 Over a 3 year project we implemented an approach titled
“People Centered Product Development” which addressed
issues such as: Communication, Sharing, Creativity,
Knowledge Building, Systems Thinking and Engineering
 A method and tool for AG skills assessment, targeted
improvement and tracking was implemented
Diesel Engine: Reliability
 Global OEM began implementation in 1998
 Project target was to cut warranty claims to 50% of historical
levels
 Warranty claims were cut by nearly 70%, sales volumes
doubled the forecast.
 Corporate decision taken to adopt the methodology
throughout the group (Marine Engines, Commercial Engines,
Buses, Trucks, Construction Equipment)
