Calangute	beach	is	one	of	the	most	crowded	beaches	in	Goa	and	is	often	referred	to	as	the	'Queen	of
Beaches'.	Many	tourists	are	attracted	to	this	beach	as	there	are	lots	of	activities	that	one	can	do	here.
Sunbathing, Watersports, swimming etc. This luscious sweep of silvery sand houses, countless
shacks	and	picturesque	huts	that	serve	food	entice	people	on	the	beach.	The	other	places	that	one
should	not	miss	while	at	Calangute	are	Kerkar	Art	Gallery	and	Church	of	St.	Alex.	There	is	also	a
Tibetan	market	in	Calangute.
The	pristine	Agonda	beach	is	the	ideal	destination	for	those	who	want	to	be	away	from	crowds.	It	is
ideal	for	relaxation,	sunbathing	and	swimming.	Nearly	3	kms	long,	it	is	lined	with	simple	beach
shacks.	The	beach	is	hawker-free,	which	ensures	that	visitors	are	able	to	enjoy	themselves	without
distractions.	It	is	a	nesting	site	of	the	endangered	Ridley	Turtle.	Leisure	boat	rides	are	available.
Alongside	the	beach	are	quite	a	few	decent	but	simple	outlets	in	which	to	eat	and	stay.	Not	very	far
from	the	beach	is	the	Cabo	de	Rama	fort,	which	was	built	by	Sambhaji,	the	Maratha	king,	in	the	17th
century.	The	Portuguest	subsequently	acquired	the	fort	and	named	it	Cabo	De	Rama	(i.e.	Cave	of
Rama	on	the	basis	of	tales	that	they	had	heard	from	the	locals).
The	Baga	beach	is	around	1.5km	long	and	comprises	pristine, ine	white	sand	and	an	authentic	local
feel	with	many	traditional	huts	still	being	used	by	the	local ishing	population.	It	is	famous	for	its
water sports – jet-skiing, parasailing, wakeboarding, windsur ing and kitesur ing. Diving
expeditions,	trips	by	boat	to	nearby	islands	and	dolphin-spotting	rides	are	very	popular.	The	beach	is
lined	with	markets	and	eating	and	staying	outlets.	Not	very	far	from	the	beach	is	a	river	and	creek.
This	gives	visitors	the	opportunity	to	relax	in	still	and	safe	waters.
Betalbatim	beach	is	accessible	by	bus	from	the	town	of	Margao	/	Vasco	de	Gama.	The	beach	is
considered	one	of	the	most	romantic	spots	in	Goa,	offering	as	it	does,	spectacular	views	of	the	sunset,
crystal-clear	waters,	unspoiled	sand	and	mango	and	palm	trees.	The	beach	is	home	to	a	thriving
wildlife	population	with	diverse	species	of	birds	and ish,	some	of	which	are	unique	to	the	area.
Fishing	and	dolphin-spotting	are	the	main	tourist	activities	at	the	beach.	Visitors	often	prefer	to	stay
in	the	locally-run	hotels	and	beach	huts.	The	beach	is	not	frequented	by	tourists	as	much	as	other
beaches	in	the	state,	but	that	is	precisely	why	it	is	the	ideal	getaway	for	couples	and	families	that	wish
to	avoid	crowds.

Not very far from the beach is the Cabo de Rama fort, which was built by Sambhaji, the Maratha king, in the 17th century. The Portuguest subsequently acquired the fort and named it Cabo De Rama (i.e. Cave of Rama on the basis of tales that they had heard from the locals). The beach is home to a thriving wildlife population with diverse species of birds and ish, some of which are unique to the area. Fishing and dolphin-spotting are the main tourist activities at the beach. Visitors often prefer to stay in the locally-run hotels and beach huts.
