International Earth Day was proclaimed in the 1970s by its founder John McConnel. Jean-Jacques Rousseau introduced environmental education philosophy in his work "Emile". Environmental education aims to develop awareness, concern, and knowledge of the environment to preserve and conserve it sustainably for present and future generations. Its goals are to improve environmental quality, create awareness of problems and conservation, and enable participation in decision making. Objectives include developing awareness, knowledge, pro-environmental attitudes, participation skills, and involvement in resolving issues.
