2. Editing
• To edit Sold to the Highest Bidder, I used Final Cut
Pro X. This editing program allowed me to
assemble shots in order and eliminate any
unwanted gaps in my clips. I was able to
experiment freely with my footage and make it as
seamless as possible. Any skills I possessed were
developed and expanded as I learnt new
techniques.
• Editing was crucial as I had to create the
conventional atmosphere for a crime-thriller.
Quick shots were mainly used in my film to create
a sense of suspense and tension.
• Overall, it took 7 hours to edit Sold to the Highest
Bidder which was spread over a couple of
days. Final Cut Pro was the best editing software I
could have used as it was easy and very quick.
3. Tumblr
• Throughout the process of creating the
preliminary task and Sold to the Highest
Bidder, I used Tumblr regularly in order to
write about my planning, research, pre-
production and post-production. I found that
it was a great platform to upload any audio,
links, photos and texts as I was able to
organise them how I wished. It was the best
platform I could have used as it was incredibly
easy and time efficient to upload a wide
variety of media e.g. Slide Share and YouTube
clips.
4. Animatic
• The Animatic was the most challenging aspect of the
entire process of planning Sold to the Highest Bidder. I
created my Animatic using Adobe Premiere and found it
difficult to use as it was complicated. I kept this in mind
as I decided to change my editing program to Final Cut
Pro. Despite finding Adobe Premiere difficult and time-
consuming, I was able to improve my skills on it and
complete my animatic.
• The animatic was a vital factor for the planning of Sold
to the Highest Bidder as it was a template for the shots I
needed to take and whether I wanted to change any of
them.
5. Slideshare
• For the evaluations that were PowerPoints, I used Slideshare to
upload them. This allowed me to use different types of media for my
evaluations and upload a PowerPoint to my Tumblr. Uploading my
PowerPoints to SlideShare made it incredibly easy as my slides were
already created on PowerPoint and just needed to be uploaded to the
site.
6. Digital Camera
• The camera I used was a Canon 1100D with an EF-S 18-
55mm lens to film my entire opening.
• The camera enabled me to capture great quality shots
while allowing me to focus on specific areas in the shot
that were important. The Canon 1100D was the most
appropriate camera to use as it was not too complex.
• However, the camera was unable to capture good quality
sound which had to be fixed during editing. Background
noise had to be removed and the volume of specific
sounds had to increased.
• I used the EOS REBEL T3 tripod for my camera. This was
easy to use and was compact, which made it easy to travel
to different locations. Overall, the equipment I used to film
Sold to the Highest Bidder was very suitable and
satisfactory to create a good film opening.
7. Virtual DJ
• For my audio, I used Virtual DJ,
an audio mixing software with
numerous editing features. I
used it to merge sounds and to
make specific sound effects to
match with specific shots for
example, the audio was
increased with the action in
the shot. This music platform
was effective and efficient to
use as it was not too complex.
