3 Early Signs Your High Paying Career Is Unfulfilling
pedro-campos.com/blog-signs-high-paying-career-unfulfilling/
As you analyze each word of this article, you`ll shortly begin to understand why you`re not
satisfied in your current career and what are the signs you need to be aware of before it`s
too late.
Whether you`re in a stressful management position, a boring job or you`ve been handed
the “golden handcuffs”, the signs are pretty much the same across all ambitious
professionals.
I`m talking about those who want more out of life than just the traditional 9 to 5, which
sometimes ends up being more like a 9 to 11, if you know what I mean.
You probably know that when you were in
school if you didn`t understand the
meaning of a concept, you just didn`t apply
it. Same thing happens with words. I say
this because most people know they have
this strange feeling of emptiness but it`s
hard for them to fully describe it.
So, let`s crack the nut…
What does the word fulfillment even
mean?
Accordingly to the dictionary, fulfillment is
a “satisfaction or happiness as a result of
fully developing one’s potential.”

2. Have you noticed that it doesn`t say achievement…
Because it`s different. Achievement is the attainment of something. Just because you`re
successful or very good at what you do doesn`t mean you can`t experience emptiness or
boredness.
You can also be happy in your job because it pays you very well, it gives you comfort,
you`re not struggling but you always feel like something is missing.
More on this, as you read along…
As progress in your career, you start getting fed up by having your stomach tied in knots,
every Sunday as you dread the thought of going to work in the next morning.
You see, the problem is that most people get stuck in this idea that life is all about working
hard, getting a good job, climbing the ladder and waiting until retirement to finally be able to
live on their own terms. We`re convinced by the media, politicians and schools to think that
this is the only way to live.
I don`t know about you, but I didn’t want to wait that long!
So, my intention today is to demystify why people get trapped in this cycle instead of
chasing their potential and creating their best life.

Here are the signs you need to be aware of. They will tell you if it`s time for a change in
your life or not.
#1 You Wake Up Wondering If There Is More To Life
I remember, one day I was getting ready for the usual morning meeting, frustrated because
it was just another day, I looked out the window and thought… “This is it, is this all there is
to life, come on, this can`t be it!”

3. I don`t know if you ever felt that way, but it`s a pretty serious sign that you`re unfulfilled,
bored or that the job you`re in is not aligned with what you`re capable of doing, essentially
not exploiting your potential.
On those moments, you find yourself
feeling like you`re wasting time and talent
on useless and meaningless tasks. You
feel numb and the commute is sometimes
the time to reflect on exactly what`s your
real purpose and mission in life, anyway.
So, as I promised you in the
beginning…
Let`s talk about happiness and why it
doesn`t equal fulfillment. From my point of
view, happiness is temporary, it`s an
emotional estate and it`s just a way to fix
the fruit and not the root. A stable income,
a list of benefits and a safe and secure
position within your company is nothing compared to creating a living where your legacy
matters.
The game changes when you start to realize that you can`t be fulfilled walking on the road
of achievement. You begin to understand that in order for you to be complete as a human
being you need to have a bigger impact on other people`s lives and that money, although
important, becomes secondary.
#2 You`re Constantly Thinking About Your Dreams
Has someone ever said you were crazy when you told him your wildest dreams?
Yes, the ones you dreamed as a little kid, those things you wanted to do when you grew up.
You probably already know this…
People trying to shut you down when you say you want to work for yourself or that you want
to do something big in the future. Society has been very effective at killing people`s
dreams and aspirations.
Most kids are born with energy and excited about life, but what happens when they grow
up?
You say to your mom: “Mom, one day I`m gonna be a Hollywood movie start or a world
renown public speaker!” Your mom immediately tries to bring you back to what she calls
“reality” and suffocates your ambitions.
Of course, our parents never want us to be disappointed so they think they`re doing us a
favor by saying that.
No wonder why so many people spend 5 years in college, getting a formal education,

themselves a few years down the line in a job they hate and that doesn`t exploit their
creativity and potential.
Crazy, isn`t?
It`s not because they`re stupid or lazy, they just have the wrong programming in their
minds…
The programming of getting a good job, being seen and heard, not standing out and being
comfortable… Oh, I almost forgot, the “don`t take risks” cassette tape and the “settle down”
CD.

Ask Bills Gates, Lebron James or Oprah and they will tell you… it`s impossible to reach
your full potential and live an extraordinary life if all you want is to be comfortable, instead
of looking for freedom and fulfillment.
What if your best life is outside your comfort zone?
Most certainly is.
#3 Your Gut Tells You One Thing You Do Another
I`m talking about that feeling you have when you sense that it`s time for a change, that
something is not right.
You know what happens to most people?
They ignore the “monster” inside and delay the decision of making a change to the right
time. I have experienced this… and let me tell you: there is never a right time for anything,
ever!

5. Is life perfect? Of course not. Then why
should a perfect timing exist?
When people experience the buzz in their
gut telling them something they often try to
look for the missing link, buying the next
course or program, attending that seminar,
trying to look for answers in the outside
rather than paying attention at what is
going on in the inside. This is a good
example of trying to fix the fruit and not the
root!
True change only happens when you start
changing the inside. Will more money in
your life help reduce your feeling of
emptiness?
Probably not, that`s because true fulfillment comes when you enjoy what you do and you
contribute to the good of others not when you`re well paid and what you`re doing doesn`t
have any meaning.
Fear comes up when you start thinking about a change. It`s very common to have doubts, I
had my fair share too!
So, let`s pretend you want to make a change, what are your options, at this point? Maybe a
career shift, starting your own business or simply wait until retirement.

6. I don`t know, only you can choose what`s best for you particular situation, but hopefully, this
read got you some awareness and clarity around your job dissatisfaction and the emotions
behind it.
Just want to leave you with this one…
I used to always remind myself of something back when I was in the military: “bad times
don`t last forever!”
Wish you all the best,
