4. Kindergarden The kindergar d en includes children between 3 and 6-7 years old. The activities are developed in: kindergar d en with short program (4 hours daily), long program (8 hours daily) or weekly program (full time). The aim of the first level – 3 – 5 years old – is socializ ation of the children. The aim of the second level – 5 -7 years old – is preparing the children for the school.
5. The duration of the general obligatory education is 10 classes. In theory, education finish es at the age of 16-17 years. C hildren start school at the age of 7 (sometimes at 6 ) and finish at the age of 10-11 . Classes are held in the morning (4-5 subjects/day ). There are 4 grades : I, II, III, IV. Primary education
6. includes grades V-VIII and represents a full day program. Pupils graduate by taking national exams during the 7th and 8th grade. C hildren usually finish school at the age of 14 -15 year s. Lower secondary education
7. Includes grades IX – XII – there are full day programs , half day programs and no frequency. There are 3 main types: t h eoretic al : natural science and language studies ; te c hnologic al and voca t ional : artistic, sport s and t h eologi e . C hildren graduate highschool with the “ bacalaureat ” exam. Upper secondary education
