2. • John Steinbeck was born February 27th 1902 in Salinas
Valley, California.
• Steinbeck graduated from Salinas High School in 1919.
• He attended Stanford University in 1920 and graduated in 1925.
• After graduating he moved to New York to further his writing career.
3. • He spent a few years in New York but he couldn’t get any of his
writing published so he moved back to California.
• Soon after he moved back to California he had his first book
published.
• In 1930 Steinbeck married Carol Henning.
• He continued writing until he died on December 20th 1968.

• In September 1964, Steinbeck was awarded the United States Medal

• In 1979, the United States Postal Service issued a stamp featuring
Steinbeck.
