days after the establishment of La Liga

by Andres Bonifacio in Tondo, Manila, as a
result of the failure of the Reform Movement

and affiliates of the organization - then, he cannot

• If the applicant wishes to lead a life of bodily
comfort and ease, then, he better not proceed. For
he will encounter weighty tasks, sufferings, and
perils.
• Punctual payment of dues is required – P1 upon
entry, and 12 and a half centavos each month

• A person’s actions and deeds are measured by
compassion and honor, not by fame nor fortune
• All men are equal, regardless of their appearance,
knowledge, wealth, or occupation
• Defend the oppressed, Fight the oppressor
• Treat women with respect and kindness
• Love for the country

• The relevance of the Kartilya lies in the fact
that it established not only rules and
regulations for the members of the Katipunan,
but also principles for the citizens once
independence has been achieved.
