Communal eating as an outward expression of friendship in the Middle East. Do not eat with your left hand, which is considered unclean. It is considered polite to leave a bit of food on one’s plate. Do not ask for pork or pork products. Arab hosts will always offer tea or coffee. A gracious guest will accept the gesture. Observant Muslims do not drink alcohol or smoke. In the UAE, alcohol is served in most hotels but may not be available in local restaurants. If alcohol is not offered, it is better not to ask for it. Sharwarma – slivers of spit-roasted lamb or chicken, served with salad in a warmed pitta bread pouch or felafel sandwich. Fatayer (Arabic Term for Pies) - deep fried pastries stuffed with cheese and spinach.

- The Islamic dress code is not compulsory except in Ra’s al-Khaimah Most Emirati males prefer to wear a kandura, an ankle-length white shirt woven from wool or cotton.
- Dubai Metro: Two lines: Green line and the Blue line. Each line is scheduled to run every 90 seconds and 43 station stops. Some of these will be above the ground and some will be underground.
