Satchells are the leading independentestate agent in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire with 6 offices.
They have been successfullyhelping people find their new home for over 85 years. They have an excellent
reputation for looking after their customers in the personalised wayonly a local independentfirm can.
Due to their continued expansion they were seeking a Senior Residential Letting Administrator /Negotiator to join
their busyteam at their central Letchworth Garden City office.
CHALLENGES
Satchells had initiallytried advertising locally themselves which took up quite a lot of their time dealing with the
response butunfortunatelynot attracting the right candidate.Because they advertised they were approached by
a number ofrecruitmentagencies all saying they could fill the role quickly and in some cases ata very affordable
price. They chose to engage with two of these affordable agencies and after two months had only received two
CVs neither of which was suitable.
As the role had now been open for a while the strain was beginning to show in the office so it was decided to look
for other options.It was imperative this did not further burden their Regional Lettings manager with further
administration and also thatthis role was recruited quicklyand efficiently. Satchells spoke to ATS as they
seemed to offer additional services than other agencies theyhad spoken to but at similar costs to the bigger
agencies around.Satchells decided to retain ATS on an exclusive basis,notsomething they had not done
before, as they were promised a more personalised service led by a Partner of the business with over 24 years

SOLUTIONS
ATS recommended thatthe advert they had advertised previouslywas completelyre-written to make it ‘web
friendly’ to attract the rightcandidates.ATS do not have a database as they feel it is importantto look for
candidates new to the market. The advert was advertised across 5 major job boards.ATS would pre-screen and
interview all the candidates prior to hire as well as aid the recruitmentprocess with the aim ofremoving as much
administration from Simon the Regional Lettings Manager as possible.
RESULTS
Over the course of the advertising campaign there were 49 applications to the role.Unfortunately 38 of these
were unsuitable and were politelyand professionallyrejected 48 hours after application (thereby protecting
Satchells local reputation) all of the other 11 were interviewed by ATS over SKYPE before passing 5 over for
interview. The successful candidate joined their team 4 weeks after firstinterview. Here are a few words from
