Objective
To pursue a new career direction in which I can apply my accumulated professional,
technical and life skills and experiences toward interesting new challenges and
opportunities.
Professional Experience
Associate Director, North American Information Technology Business
Solutions
4/2002 – December 2016 Praxair, Inc., Tonawanda, New York
I have significant experience in all phases of project management from initiation through
closeout. I am experienced with preparing statements of work, professional services
agreements, defining project controls, managing resources both internal and external,
supplier management and audit and regulatory compliance. I have been accountable for
projects ranging from $25M through $11MM. During this period, I was responsible for the
conceptualization and implementation of several major initiatives:
1. relocation of a major pipeline control center. This project included upgrading of
software applications and telecommunication infrastructure as well as facility renovation.
2. demonstration of the technical viability of using wireless communications for data
collection from remote pipeline metering devices.
3. implementation of separate virtual telecommunications networks for business and
process control functions to improve security and performance on both.
4. participation as a member of a team chartered to evaluate and deploy onboard
vehicle computer technology.
5. implementation of a mobile process monitoring application using Blackberry
technology.
6. management of the initiation and planning phases for a proposed project to replace a
major mission critical legacy mainframe application (Logistics). As this initiative moved
into the deployment phase, I gained considerable experience working with an offshore
development team. A major component of this application (pipeline billing) was
implemented successfully and has substantially improved the business critical pipeline
and standard plant billing process.
7. selection and implementation of digital signage technology to support and improve
safety communication
8. implementation of the Oracle Utilities Energy Information platform for billing of pipeline
accounts
Also during this period I participated in the preparation and management of the annual
information technology budget plan for the business unit.
2. Associate Director, Corporate IT Applications
Praxair, Inc., Tonawanda, New York
During this period, I led an information technology application development department
responsible for providing applications that supported new business initiatives and
profitability improvements in the corporation's Distribution, Plant Operations and
Engineering business groups. I had full responsibility for application portfolio management,
technology management, budgeting, staffing and project management. I was responsible
for planning and managing an annual budget of approximately $3.5MM. The group was
composed of 24 full time employees and 4 contracted employees. One noted
accomplishment included a project I undertook to improve the corporation's logistics
operations in India and China. Following an extensive requirements analysis in both
countries, a logistics system was designed and implemented for the corporation's
operation in India using Wipro as the supplier. A system was also developed and deployed
in China. Improvements in distribution costs were observed in both countries following
implementation.
