  1. Directgov is the official website for citizens seeking information on public services from government. We aim to make government easier to access. We are probably unique, we work across every department, aiming to join up the services people consume into logical groupings for customers. We have around 80% customer satisfaction, 75% repeat visitors, with around 17-20m visits a month Directgov is in the top 50 UK websites, as well as regularly being the most visited government site. We deliver services across web, mobile and digital TV, utilising the right channel for the right audience, here we’re working with NHS to deliver cervical cancer vaccination reminders to teenagers.
  2. Important not to just replicate web site - will work but poor user experience. User experience research Bite sized chunks Handset detection - correct size and format for handset Cope with ever expanding array or more sophisticated handsets Variety of content from lbs - jobs, nhs, blue badge - to travel, video, calculators, flat informal content. - govt content very dry so important to hold users attention lbs - sen text, handset located via the network (triangulates position based on strenght of signal between handset and masts) works better in heavily built up urban areas and returns nearest

Increase accessibility of government information to a wider audience Use of more innovative tools to help people access essential information easily and quickly Benefit from native features on handsets All information in apps is also available in browser version Cross promotion Links from app to mobile site Increase in iPhone and iPod Touch devices accessing Directgov mobile
