Test Setup & Execution
• Install, remove and modify prototype or experimental vehicle components for test purposes.
• Diagnose test setup issues using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Identify opportunities to reduce test set up and run time.
• Responsible to stop testing when circumstances arise that may compromise test integrity.
• Maintain equipment in operating condition to maximize test lab up-time.
• Support data acquisition requirements and conversions, when needed.
• Calculate and record test data, note discrepancies and make corrections as required.
Machining/Fabrication
• Assist in the design of fixtures, based on test requirements, for the mounting of test samples.
• Fabricate complex test fixtures or modify test samples based on blueprints or sketches.
• Calibrate and repair instruments or related test equipment.
• Maintain materials and tooling inventory to support operation of the machine shop.
• Identify materials needing re-stock and order through procurement processes.
Communication
• Interact with Test Engineering to ensure that testing is completed accurately.
• Provide feedback to Product Development Engineers on the performance of their parts.
• Bring testing and/or laboratory concerns to the attention of laboratory management.
• Ensure all hand measurements and electronic data collected is accurately documented.
• Document testing (procedures, methods, photos, etc.) so that it could be repeated in the future.
• Use LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) to manage test from request to report.
Quality
• Support efforts to meet the requirements of ISO/TS 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025.
• Participate in internal/external audits as required.
• Use LIMS to document the procedures, materials and instruments used to conduct testing.
• Support proficiency testing activities.
