The MWP2/7
Buildings and
modules are
dedicated
to common
facilities for
the 3 LNG trains.
The CCB is one of the
most critical modules
of the project, piloting
the entire Yamal plant.
The building is made up
of 73 different rooms
on two levels. It is 103
m long, 44.7 m wide,
21.9 m high, and weighs
over 5,500 tons. It also
includes 340 km of
cables.
challenge
The yard had an extremely tight time schedule for its 21 modules. Production began in 2015
and continued for approximately 20 months in total. That represented a total of 18 million hours
worked, often 24/7. Ensuring good communications among multicultural teams, and mobilising
the teams around a common project was also crucial to the completion of the project.
“When you’re involved on an international
project of this size, the main challenge is a
human one. Without the men and women
who worked on the project, we would not
have achieved anything at all. We obviously
had many moments of stress and tension,
but we never gave up. We all worked as
One Team to support project completion.”

“My greatest satisfaction relates to the mobil-
isation/demobilisation role. We had a very short
time frame in which to do that and I’m proud
to say we succeeded without any delays. It was
like taking a fast train: you know your destina-
tion and you feel best when you’re going ahead
at high speed, working hard with your team to
solve issues that arise along the way. It was an
exciting and unforgettable time for me.”

Paul Bernard,
CCB Construction
Manager
What was your role in the
project?
Paul Bernard: “I was in charge
of the construction of the
CCB module, the linchpin of
the whole Yamal Project. It’s
the biggest module installed
at Sabetta, and the longest
industrial module ever trans-
ported in the world. Ensuring
its safe arrival, on time and on
quality, required very close
coordination between the op-
erating centre, our suppliers,
and our sub-contractor.”
