Re: Recommendation letter for Patrick Durgy
I have known Patrick as his Economics instructor and as Head of the Management and Economics
Department at the Royal Military College (RMC). Over the last two and a half years I have known
Patrick, I have taught him two courses—Introduction to Microeconomics and Mathematics for
Economics, and he excelled in both of those. Patrick is a top student in all of his Economics and
Business courses. So much so that he was offered a teaching assistant position for one of our
undergraduate courses (Introduction to Statistics) in the Winter 2017 term. This is an indication not
only of Patrick’s knowledge of the subject, but also his maturity, as we don’t typically hire our own
undergraduate students as teaching assistants.
Patrick is a very hard-working, disciplined, and engaged student. He has excellent communication
skills and judgement. Patrick has very good analytical skills, which is complemented by good
economic intuition.
In addition to his academic activities, Patrick is playing on the RMC hockey team and is a reservist in
the Canadian Forces. He manages very well the various demands on his time without any special
accommodations on the academic side, which is commendable.
