2. Hair loss is primarily a lifestyle problem
that can be easily cured with the safe and
effective solutions of Ayurveda and Yoga.
Hair loss, baldness and grey hair depend
upon one's body type and the balance of
doshas. People with excess Pitta are more
prone to premature greying of the hair and
baldness. Unwanted Pitta in the sebaceous
gland lead to hair loss.
3. In Ayurveda, hair is a by-product of bone
tissue and a disturbance in the metabolism
of these tissues causes fire in the digestive
system that causes the degradation of the
hair. People with excess Pitta must pay
attention to their food habit and must avoid
fried and spicy food and beverages like
coffee and tea which contain caffeine.
Regular intake of non-vegetarian food and
alcohol also increase the problem. Besides
unhealthy food habits, stress is another
major cause of hair loss and other scalp
problems.
4. Ayurveda always on eradicating the root
cause of a problem that is why an Ayurveda
practitioner always recommend those
medicines and treatments which control the
unnecessary growth of Pitta through
personified diet regime, Yoga, meditation
and naturopathy. Triphala powder is very
effective in improving the digestion system,
abating the constipation, detoxifying the
body, reducing the stress and controlling
the Pitta. Lots of green vegetables and
papaya in salad, fresh curd during lunch
and a glass of coconut water should be
taken regularly. Various breathing exercises
along with pranayam, meditation and
aromatherapy relax mind as well as body
and do not allow excessive production of
Pitta.
5. Shatavari (Asparagus), Amla (embilica
officinalis), Carrot, Lettuce, Spinach, Green
Coriander and bitter vegetables like fenugreek
are very effective in treating hair fall problem.
One should take enough protein, curd and fruits
that contain good quantity of iron. Thikthakam
kashayam, Thikthakam ghritham and
Narasimha rasayanam are some effective
medicines in Ayurveda which should be taken
after consulting with a vaidya(doctor) for right
amount of dosage that varies with the age and
intensity of the problem. Various Ayurveda
therapies like Abhyangam, Thala pothichil,
Dhara and Nasya are very effective for
combating the stress, constipation and
detoxifying the body from harmful substances.
These overall benefits ultimately reduce the
higher Pitta level and subsequently improve the
strength and quality of the hair.
6. Head massage with Neelibhringadi or
Kunthala kanthi oil at least once a week
and nourishing the hair with coconut oil
thrice a week is very beneficial in case of
hair loss. Herbal shampoos made from
embilica officinalis and acacia concinna
should be used for cleaning the hair and
one must refrain from chemical based
shampoos.
