Handel was a great composer and is famous for a concerto that is played around the holiday season. This wacky white elephant gift party is a play on the Handel’s music and is called the Handel’s Gift Can Share Go. The object of this party is to “Handle” the gifts many times during the game. Obviously the most desirable gift will probably get the most handles in the game.
All of the cool white elephant gifts are placed with access for every player in the gift exchange. Setting the room with chairs in a circle is the easiest way to manage the white elephant party. The host needs to have the sheets of dots available for the players so that they can mark each open gift as Handled…
Just like every white elephant gift exchange party, the random name draw will yield the name of the first player. Once a name slip is drawn from the hat it will be returned to the hat for future drawings.
The first player opens a wrapped white elephant gift and can ether keep the gift or share it with any other player that does not have a gift. The gift recieves a dot when it is opened and another dot when it is Handled by someone else. If a player opens an unopened gift and then chooses to share the gift, they will wait to open another gift until their turn is called by another random drawing.
The second gift exchange player is selected at random from the hat. Their option is to open a new wrapped gift to keep or to share. They also have the option of stealing an open gift. If they share the gift they will wait until their turn comes up again to get another gift. Remember to put a dot on each white elephant gift as it gets Handled…
The third player is selected at random. If any player is selected that already has an open gift they can swap with another persons open gift. If they do not have a gift their options are open and new gift, steal an open gift, open and share a gift. Remember to place dots whenever a gift changes hands or is first opened.
The next player is selected after all of the sharing or swaping or opening is completed.
The white elephant gift exchange game continues until all the gifts have been opened. The host can choose to provide an extra gift to the person with the most dots on their gift at the end of the game. Or the Host can award the purchaser of the most dotted gift as a reward for being such a great white elephant gift shopper.
